Warehouse Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Job Summary As a Warehouse Supervisor at Smithfield, you will oversee critical operations such as receiving, transfers, picking/packing, and shipping. You will lead a team, make staffing decisions, and ensure production goals are met while maintaining safety, quality, and compliance standards. Responsibilities Ensure full compliance with safety legislation and approved codes of practice, creating a secure environment for your team and operations. Monitor and manage all warehouse activities—including receiving, storing, and shipping—to run on time with minimal errors. Guarantee that assembled goods are packed and labeled correctly; loading lists are accurate, and all paperwork is complete. Lead and organize your workforce, identify training needs, provide coaching and mentoring, and inspire peak performance while maintaining strong employee relations. Review and refine working practices to maximize efficiency and productivity; ensure all procedures align with company standards and drive continuous improvement. Compile and maintain essential records, reports, and logs to keep operations transparent and compliant. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2+ years of relevant experience or equivalent experience in a supervisory or lead role. Experience providing training, coaching or mentoring to less experienced staff or managing a process or project. Knowledge of OSHA Standards, USDA, HACCP and EPA regulations. Manufacturing knowledge and understanding of yields, plant efficiencies, and operations procedures. Knowledge of SAP, manufacturing software, inventory software, and Microsoft Office Suite. Flexibility to work nights and weekends; travel up to 5% of the time. Additional Skills Ability to work well with others in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Respectful, approachable, team oriented; building strong working relationships. Bilingual a plus. Good oral and written communication skills. Supervisory Responsibilities Provide leadership and guidance to employees in the Warehouse. Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization policies and laws. Interview, hire, train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline; address complaints and resolve issues. Physical Demands & Work Environment The distribution center/plant environment will include wet or humid conditions, extreme cold and heat, working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals. Noise level is usually moderate but can be loud. Frequently required to move or lift up to 50 lbs and occasionally more than 100 lbs. Requires frequent standing, walking, use of hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and ability to talk or hear. Vision abilities include close and distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
