Role Own fabrication execution and inventory control across the business. Ensure materials and fabricated components are available, on time, to spec, and within budget—from supplier through production and shipment. This role sits at the center of engineering, suppliers, and operations. You are accountable for schedule, quality, and inventory discipline. This is a hands-on execution role, not a coordinator position. What You’ll Do Fabrication & Supplier Management: Qualify and manage fabrication partners (stainless, carbon steel, weldments, coatings) Evaluate supplier capability, capacity, and quality systems Establish and maintain a reliable fabrication network aligned to demand Hold suppliers accountable to delivery, quality, and cost commitments Procurement & Technical POs: Develop and issue detailed fabrication POs (scope, drawings, specs, welding, coatings, documentation) Negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules Ensure all requirements are clearly defined and executable upfront Expediting & Manufacturing Execution: Own supplier schedules from PO through receipt and shipment Monitor project manufacturing progress and drive on-time execution Work directly with fabrication partners to meet project schedules Identify risks early and resolve before impacting production Inventory Management: Maintain and optimize inventory levels for U.S. operations Establish and adjust stocking levels and EOQs Assign inventory to projects and spare parts based on priority Execute replenishment through ERP and coordinate inbound logistics Perform cycle counts and ensure inventory accuracy Manufacturing Coordination: Work with Engineering and Project Managers to process manufacturing drawings and revisions Develop and manage Bills of Materials Prepare packing lists and shipment documentation Maintain manufacturing standards and ensure compliance with specifications and industry requirements Ensure fabrication is executed within project budgets Quality & Inspection: Inspect fabricated components for compliance with drawings and specifications Visit supplier facilities and job sites to inspect, test, and verify equipment Drive resolution of non-conformances (root cause, corrective action, prevention) What Success Looks Like Fabricated components arrive on time, complete, and usable Inventory is accurate, right-sized, and available when needed Suppliers perform without constant escalation Projects move through fabrication without disruption or rework Qualifications 5 to 10 years in heavy/industrial fabrication, with inventory experience Direct experience in fabrication sourcing, expediting, and inventory control Strong working knowledge of Welding processes and standards Industrial coatings/painting Mechanical assemblies and fabrication practices Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, BOMs, and specifications Experience writing technical POs with clear scope and quality requirements ERP/MRP and inventory management experience Technical Skills Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor (or similar 3D CAD) Strong Excel capability Ability to analyze defects and drive corrective action Core Competencies Execution discipline—delivers without follow-up Technical judgment—can challenge suppliers and prevent errors Strong coordination across engineering, operations, and suppliers Organized and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously Compensation Salary based on experience Expectations Hands-on role – regular interaction with shop floor, warehouse, and suppliers Own outcomes, not activity Anticipate and resolve issues before they impact schedule Bottom Line If materials don’t show up, show up late, or show up wrong—this role owns it.
