Lead Software Engineer, Portfolio Technology

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We require formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, along with 5+ years of applied experience.
• We need advanced knowledge of application, data, and infrastructure architecture.
• We look for hands-on experience delivering platform and system design, application development, performance testing, incident management, and operational stability.
• We need advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages, specifically Java and Python.
• We value experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, including expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• We need strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency and security expectations.
• We require proficiency across the software development life cycle and strong understanding of agile practices such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
• We need experience building RESTful web services and microservices, including API design, testing, performance tuning, and secure coding.
• We require strong AWS experience with production-grade services and patterns.
• We need strong experience designing and operating data solutions in Snowflake, including schema design, performance, secure access, and operationalization.
• We require strong SQL skills, including experience with stored procedures and relational concepts.
• Preferred: AWS certifications such as Developer, Solutions Architect, ML Engineer, AI Developer, DevOps Engineer, or CloudOps Engineer.
• Preferred: Airflow or equivalent orchestration experience.
• Preferred: Experience with modern CI tooling such as GitHub, BitBucket, GitLab, or Jenkins.
• Preferred: Financial services experience and familiarity with trading concepts and the trade lifecycle.

• We design, build, test, and deploy Java-based microservices and REST APIs, with Python where appropriate, to support SMA trading, data workflows, and client servicing.
• We lead delivery across multiple services and teams by driving execution, managing dependencies and trade-offs, and aligning with established architecture and engineering guardrails.
• We build and enhance data pipelines and curated datasets for trading, client reporting, operational insights, and controls.
• We partner with data governance, risk, and controls stakeholders to maintain lineage, quality, access controls, and auditability.
• We drive Snowflake best practices, including performance, cost control, secure data sharing patterns, and environment hygiene.
• We own production readiness, including observability, resiliency, incident response, and post-incident improvements.
• We reduce recurring issues through automation and platform fixes, and we establish SLOs and error budgets.
• We support production as needed and ensure rapid triage and root-cause resolution.
• We embed security, resiliency, and controls into design and implementation, while following IT control policies and corporate standards.
• We strengthen code reviews, testing strategy, release governance, and documentation quality.
• We partner with stakeholders to convert business outcomes into technical delivery plans.
• We contribute to agile planning and provide engineering leadership on scope, sequencing, and delivery risk.
• We foster a culture of inclusion, continuous learning, experimentation, and high engineering standards.
• We model safe and effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
• We drive adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
• We apply Software Development Life Cycle tools, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value delivered through automation.
