KDB Senior Lead Software Engineer

Salary: $171,000 - 260,000 per year Requirements:

• We have formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience.
• We bring hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• We are advanced in one or more programming languages, including KDB and Q language.
• We have strong proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods, with a solid grasp of agile practices such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
• We have development lead and mentoring experience, including requirements capture, task breakdown, time and effort estimation, delivery planning, testing, and user acceptance testing.
• We have deep knowledge of KDB technology and Q language, with solid professional experience using KDB.
• We understand KDB+tick design and data organization, including the performance impact of different approaches.
• We have practical experience working with large datasets and optimizing query performance.
• We have experience scaling and load-balancing KDB applications, as well as building resilient, high-availability KDB solutions.
• We have advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes in one or more technical disciplines such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile.
• We have experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
• Preferred: We have experience with market data venues and vendor data platforms.
• Preferred: We have AWS experience.
• Preferred: We have experience with Terraform and Kubernetes in a public cloud production environment.
• Preferred: We have experience with other languages such as Python, C, C++, or Java.

• We provide technical guidance and direction to support our business teams, contractors, vendors, and technical partners.
• We develop secure, high-quality production code and review and debug code written by others.
• We handle core development and delivery of KDB-based systems, including framework development.
• We lead team members through book of work management and help strengthen our team through SDLC improvements, testing, and continuous coding standard refinement.
• We design scalable real-time processing solutions using agile methods.
• We make decisions that shape product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes.
• We serve as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus.
• We contribute to the engineering community by promoting our firmwide frameworks, tools, and Software Development Life Cycle practices.
• We influence peers and project decision-makers to adopt leading-edge technologies where appropriate.
