Java Lead Software Engineer

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We require formal software engineering training or certification, along with 5+ years of applied experience for NAMR/APAC roles in India, LATAM, and Hong Kong; for EMEA and LATAM-Brazil roles, advanced applied experience is expected, with Singapore following local country guidance.
• We need hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• We expect strong technical depth in technologies and frameworks such as Java/Spring, JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL, and Kafka, plus practical experience with cloud platforms such as internal environments or AWS.
• We require demonstrated experience leading the effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, including setting expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• We expect a strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, resiliency, and security standards, along with experience coaching engineers on safe and compliant adoption.
• We need proficiency across the full Software Development Life Cycle.
• We expect advanced understanding of agile practices such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
• We require in-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems.
• We value practical cloud-native experience.
• Banking or buy-side experience is preferred, including portfolio management, OMS, trade lifecycle or middle office, risk, and controls.

• We design, develop, and troubleshoot software solutions using creative approaches that go beyond routine problem-solving.
• We build secure, high-quality production code and review and debug code written by others.
• We drive adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
• We apply knowledge of the SDLC toolchain, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value delivered through automation.
• We define engineering standards and reference architectures across Java, React, Kafka, Oracle, Aurora, Airflow, and Spark, and guide deployments to public and private cloud environments.
• We identify opportunities to remove or automate remediation for recurring issues to strengthen operational stability.
• We lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical capabilities, and fit within our systems and information architecture.
