Summary

This position is part of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency. The incumbent will be responsible for directing the execution and coordination of a variety of military personnel strength management programs.

As a HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (MILITARY) at the GS-0201-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:

• Provides staff level advisory services to various levels within the agency.
• Conducts policy reviews to evaluate effectiveness of current
  policies and practices and to ensure consistency in their application.
• Maintains familiarity with career patterns and military specialties to ensure units are
  authorized the proper personnel for mission accomplishment.
• Serves as the Military HR team member on special projects or comprehensive
  studies to identify and examine problems or operating issues that may impact our
  military members within the SCO-Global.
• Analyzes and makes recommendations to various officials regarding impact on authorization concerning reorganization or change in qualification requirements for military personnel

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-13 grade level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:

• administering and advising on military awards and decorations (including Joint awards), personnel assignments, transfers, promotions, separations, and related military personnel policies and procedures. Reviews, evaluates, and processes military personnel actions for accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations; prepares awards, decorations, and certificates for approval and presentation; provides technical guidance to leadership and employees; and ensures personnel actions are completed in accordance with established laws, regulations, and organizational policies.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by HR within 30 calendar days after the EOD (i.e., start date). The selectee's inability successfully pass; or refusal to conduct the test may result in: 1) the tentative or FJO being withdrawn during the recruitment process; or 2) subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment.
