# Job Opportunity – Cardiovascular Progressive Care Registered Nurse – North Carolina

Start Date: September 2026

Location: Asheville, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Day or Night shift available; 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio; Minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday) per 6-week schedule period; Holiday flexibility required

Highlights:

• 40-bed cardiovascular surgery stepdown unit specializing in cardiac and vascular surgical patients
• Primary patient population includes open heart surgery (CABG, valve replacements, TAVR), thoracic procedures (lobectomy, thoracotomy), vascular surgeries (AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomies), and overflow medical cardiology patients
• EMR: Cerner platform
• Manage complex cardiac drips including phenylephrine, dobutamine, milrinone, amiodarone, and insulin protocols
• Procedures include epidural management, chest tube care, tube feedings, and IV glucommander
• Equipment includes Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various patient lifts

Requirements:

• Active Registered Nurse license in good standing
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Stepdown experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• Preferred: Prior cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery population experience (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass) within the past year
• Preferred: CVICU experience
• May float to other stepdown units (1:5 ratio), medical-surgical units (1:6-7 ratio), or ER inpatient holding area (1:6 ratio)
