About the Position

Job Opportunity – Cardiac Stepdown RN – Western North Carolina

Start Date: September 28, 2026

Location: Asheville, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Day or Night Shift available. Patient ratio 1:4, occasional stretch to 1:5. Every other weekend required. Unit has 40 beds with dedicated charge nurse, bedside nurses, PCTs, and unit secretary support on each shift.

Highlights:

• Progressive care cardiac unit specializing in CHF, MI, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, DKA, post-cardiac procedures including cath, stent, pacemaker, ICD, and ablation
• Work with advanced cardiac IV medications including nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drips, heparin, and diuretics
• Utilize equipment such as Zoll monitors, Baxter pumps, bladder scanners, and lift equipment
• Cerner EMR system for streamlined documentation
• Opportunity for relief charge experience; floating to med-surg, stepdown, and emergency holding areas
• Supportive team environment with comprehensive orientation including unit policies and guidelines

Requirements:

• Active RN license
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Stepdown or progressive care experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• Demonstrated experience titrating cardiac IV medications (nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drip, heparin, Bumex/Lasix)
• Preferred: Experience with prostacyclins (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin) and relief charge experience
• Dress code: All white, all navy blue, or white top with navy blue pants
