Position Overview:
The Sales Application Engineer serves as an important link between engineering, sales and marketing, and operations teams. This role combines technical expertise with customer interaction, providing tailored product recommendations, proposal support, and training. The ideal candidate will also lead technical bootcamp presentations and collaborate closely with the marketing department to develop sales tools, product content, and campaigns that support business development.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze customer needs and application data to recommend suitable DHT products and system solutions.
• Prepare accurate technical proposals, cost estimates, submittals and project documentation.
• Provide direct pre- and post-sales technical support to customers, representatives, and internal teams.
• Lead and develop technical training sessions, bootcamps, and product education presentations for reps, OEMs, and sales staff virtually and in person (via Microsoft Teams and in the field).
• Prepare and revise sales design drawings
• Support reps and internal teams in maintaining current product knowledge and staying aligned with evolving customer needs.
• Collaborate with marketing to create technical content, product brochures, and application-specific sales tools.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings to drive continuous improvement and alignment between engineering, sales, operations, and customer support.
• Assist with trade shows, webinars, and customer-facing events as needed.
• Stay current on industry trends, competitive offerings, and relevant technical standards.
• Occasionally visit customer sites as necessary for startup, troubleshooting and/or training.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred.
• Preferred 2+ years of experience in sales engineering, applications engineering, or technical customer support (HVAC or thermal systems preferred).
• Proven ability to deliver effective technical presentations and lead training initiatives.
• Strong collaboration skills with experience working across departments, especially with marketing.
• Proficient with Autocad/Solidworks.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products including AI tools; ERP familiarity is a plus.
• Understanding of heat exchangers, hydronic systems, or steam/hot water applications a strong plus.
• Comfortable working in occasional remote/hybrid environments with self-motivation and accountability.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• High emotional intelligence and empathy when working with customers and colleagues.

• Creative problem-solving and critical thinking.

• Occasional travel up to 10% of the time.
