Supervising Public Health NurseThis position works within the Kern County Department of Public Health. The examination schedule includes an oral exam, which qualified candidates will be notified of five days prior to the examination. The oral exam will appraise training, education, experience, interest, and personal fitness for the position. The Human Resources Division may conduct an appraisal of application materials if there are insufficient candidates for an oral exam. Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.Minimum qualifications include one year of experience in a position equivalent to a Public Health Nurse II in a public health or community health setting, or four years of nursing experience with at least one year in a lead capacity. Additionally, candidates must possess a valid and unrestricted Public Health Nurse Certificate issued by the State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs, Board of Registered Nursing, a valid and unrestricted California Registered Nurse license issued by the State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs, Board Of Registered Nursing, and a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) card. Failure to maintain a valid Registered Nurse License issued by the State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs, Board of Registered Nursing will result in termination. A valid California Motor Vehicle Driver's License is required upon appointment.Please ensure applicable materials are attached to your application.
