A regional solid waste organization is seeking an experienced Vice President of Solid Waste Operations to provide strategic leadership and oversight of its landfill, maintenance, and composting operations in the Des Moines area. This executive-level position is responsible for managing multiple facilities, overseeing operational budgets and capital projects, ensuring environmental and regulatory compliance, and driving improvements in safety, efficiency, and financial performance. The VP will lead operational managers and staff, coordinate major construction and infrastructure projects, maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, and support business development initiatives, including acquisitions and integration. Ideal candidates will have at least 10 years of solid waste management experience, including 5–7 years of leadership experience, with strong knowledge of landfill operations, environmental regulations, financial management, and strategic planning. A bachelor’s degree is preferred, with relevant operational experience considered in place of some educational requirements. Candidates must hold or be able to obtain a Landfill Operator’s Certification within six months.
