Position Overview
The Engineer Tool 2 will support the Tool Design department in developing and designing industrial equipment, production tooling, dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures, machine attachments, and prototype/test fixtures for aerospace manufacturing and experimental applications.

The engineer will work with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, customers, and internal teams to develop practical, cost-effective tooling solutions while ensuring compliance with applicable design and drafting standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design industrial machinery, production tooling, dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures, and machine attachments.
• Develop detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using CATIA.
• Create drawings, tolerance stack-up analyses, exploded views, and models from sketches, marked-up prints, layouts, catalogues, and other engineering information.
• Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to engineering drawings.
• Generate drawings in accordance with ANSI, ISO, and applicable industry standards.
• Design tooling and components for various manufacturing processes, including:
• Castings
• Forgings
• Stampings
• Powdered metal
• Machined/turned components.
• Moulded plastics
• Support the design of testing and prototype fixtures.
• Follow internal procedures, drafting guidelines, customer requirements, and engineering standards.
• Participate in supplier and customer meetings to understand technical requirements, functionality, feasibility, and cost considerations.
• Coordinate and lead task clarification meetings with local engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Manage technical details and complete assigned projects within established timelines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure tooling designs meet production and performance requirements.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of CATIA design experience.
• Strong proficiency in CATIA 3D modelling and detailing.
• Experience with tool design, tooling, fixtures, jigs, gauges, or production equipment.
• Working knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Familiarity with ANSI and ISO engineering/drawing standards.
• Ability to interpret sketches, layouts, marked prints, and other engineering documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple technical tasks and meet project deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Experience

• Aerospace or defence manufacturing experience.
• Experience designing production or assembly tooling.
• Experience with prototype and test fixtures.
• Experience working with manufacturing and supplier teams.
• Experience designing components manufactured through machining, casting, forging, stamping, or moulding processes.
• Experience with tolerance analysis and detailed engineering drawings.
