Objective of Position The Jr. Business Banker is an entry-level developmental role that provides hands-on experience in credit analysis, underwriting, treasury management, portfolio reviews, and other client-focused business banking activities while completing formal credit training. Working closely with both client-facing and operational teams, this role gains broad exposure to all aspects of business banking. As experience grows, the Jr. Business Banker may assume responsibility for a portfolio of business clients, supporting their credit and treasury needs, strengthening client relationships, delivering financial solutions, and partnering with Branch Managers to identify business development opportunities and generate referrals. Duties and Responsibilities Learns and utilizes nCino to support customer requests, loan renewals, portfolio reviews, and overall portfolio management activities. Assists with commercial credit analysis by reviewing credit reports, personal and business financial statements, tax returns, appraisals, property inspections, and environmental reports, and helps prepare loan presentations for consideration by the appropriate approval authority. Provides timely communication and support to business banking team members and partners, ensuring customer requests, credit decisions, and portfolio-related updates are addressed efficiently and accurately. Research prospective clients, including but not limited to internet research, bank, and trade references. Supports the preparation of the Business Banking and Branch Team for optimized sales calls and prospecting. Learns to support the review and decision-making process for applications submitted through the Numerated platform, assisting with underwriting activities, documentation review, and customer requests while developing credit and lending knowledge. Works with portfolio managers to ensure covenants and controls are accurate and clear. Manages an assigned portfolio of business banking clients. Assess and address clients' credit, lending, and treasury management needs. Identifies opportunities to deepen existing relationships and increase product penetration. Partners with Branch Managers to generate referrals and pursue new business opportunities. Supports business development efforts through networking, prospecting, and community involvement. Ensures compliance with bank policies, procedures, and risk management standards. Develops professional relationships within the community and across the Bank to support future business development efforts. Partners with Business Banking and Branch teams to identify opportunities, build referral sources, and expand client relationships. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related path, preferred. 1+ years of credit analyst experience preferred. Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders at all levels. Be self-motivated and an effective time and project manager with a strong attention to detail. Have strong change management, organizational and planning capabilities. Ability to identify, understand and define problems, evaluate alternatives, set priorities, manage projects and implement high quality solutions. Demonstrate strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to support and communicate multiple projects and priorities depending on organizational needs and strategies. Possess strong communication skills both verbally and in writing. Strong social skills, ability to have conversations and network with others Proficiency in MS Office Suite. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office equipment. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices. Salary and Benefits Byline Bank offers competitive industry rate salary bands with the goal of retaining and growing talented individuals. We regularly review and adjust our compensation structure as needed to ensure equity across teams and levels. The salary range for this position is $72,000 to $80,000 + commission.
