Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Wknd Nights (Non-NICU)

Respiratory Therapist II (Night Shift) The Respiratory Therapist II is responsible for medication administration and implementing respiratory care based on expanded knowledge and the evaluate-and-treat process. The RT II delivers patient care in complex, multiple problem-patient care situations. The majority of the time is spent in critical care areas with protocol ventilator management, significant independent decision-making, and self-direction. In addition to direct patient care responsibilities, the RT II provides education to patients, families, and support systems; coordinates activities; develops staff; and engages in professional development. Key Responsibilities Provide patient care, documentation, and education. Collaborate with the health-care team to plan patient care. Verify orders and administer aerosolized medication, bronchial hygiene, volume expansion, oxygen, and medical gas therapy. Perform ventilator management, weaning, waveform graphic interpretation, airway management (intubation, extubation, trach tube change and care). Perform arterial blood gas sampling and analysis. Assist in invasive and non-invasive procedures, cardiac service procedures, and pulmonary diagnostic testing. Participate in the education of new employees, students, and peers. Promote a team spirit, positive work environment, and supportive atmosphere for students and staff. Must-Have Experience 0–2 years of clinical experience with at least 6 months in critical care. Essential Skills Excellent communication and critical thinking skills. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with physicians and other health-care professionals. Computer skills, including familiarity with databases. Good customer relationship, assessment, and communication skills. Required Licenses and Certifications Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) Basic Life Support (BLS) – Instructor & Provisional Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Instructor & Provisional Promotions and Continuous Improvement Lessons in promoting medication safety, NPSG compliance, evidence-based practice, and performance improvement initiatives.
