Summary

Under the direction of the Firm attorneys, the paralegal position researches law, investigates facts, and prepares documents to assist the Firm attorneys by performing various support duties. Paralegals are encouraged to reach a billable goal of 1200 hours each fiscal year and 720 law firm hours. Paralegals are supervised by the Office Manager.

Responsibilities

Written Discovery & Pleadings

• Draft, format, and serve written discovery requests (Interrogatories, Requests for Production, Requests for Admission) and subpoenas.
• Gather information from clients, internal custodians, and subject-matter experts to draft comprehensive discovery responses and objections.
• Maintain master discovery logs to track incoming and outgoing requests, responses, and court production deadlines.

eDiscovery & Data Management (ESI)

• Oversee the identification, preservation, collection, and processing of ESI from custodians (emails, messaging platforms, cloud drives, and physical records).
• Administer legal hold notices, tracking custodian acknowledgments and compliance.
• Utilize eDiscovery platforms (e.g., Relativity, Nuix, Logikcull, Ever law) to manage review databases, set up workflows, run search queries, and perform quality control checks.
• Coordinate document productions, ensuring proper formatting, Bates numbering, load file creation, and privilege redactions.

Document Review & Privilege

• Conduct first-pass responsiveness, confidentiality, and privilege reviews of document sets.
• Prepare detailed privilege logs specifying withheld documents, redacting sensitive content, and articulating applicable legal privileges.
• Prepare factual chronologies, case summaries, and narrative timelines from produced materials.

Deposition & Trial Preparation

• Assemble deposition exhibits, compile witness binders, and draft deposition outline materials.
• Summarize deposition transcripts and cross-reference testimony with discovery responses and document evidence.
• Assist attorneys in preparing motions to compel or protective orders regarding discovery disputes.

Requirements

• Certificate of completion or degree from an ABA-approved paralegal program or post-secondary institution.
• Proficient in English grammar usage, spelling, punctuation, syntax, and legal terminology.
• Proficient in skillfully operating computer software applications, including office equipment (e.g., copiers, fax machines, overhead projectors, personal computers, etc.) and relevant software (e.g., DMS, Microsoft Office, Macros, Coyote, Juralaw, Case lines, etc.)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with superior attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to organize and express ideas clearly.
• Demonstrated ability to use diplomacy and discretion when appropriate, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with a results orientation.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams and with clients.

Pay Range: $42 - $55 per hour
