Psychometrist, Neuropsychology

A psychometrist is responsible for the administration and scoring of psychological and neuropsychological tests evaluating cognitive, neuropsychological, academic, behavioral, and emotional status used in the diagnosis of neurological and psychological disorders. Additionally, a psychometrist will note behavioral observations during the assessment that may be used by the clinical neuropsychologist to aid in test interpretation. The psychometrist may also collect demographic information from a patient. Clear oral and written communication, professional demeanor when interacting with patients, families, and other staff, attention to detail, and basic computer proficiency are required. General duties include performing a variety of neuropsychological and general psychological test procedures, assisting patients in overcoming concerns, anxieties, aggression, and resistance, recording and scoring test results, ensuring adherence to testing and data collection protocols, organizing and presenting data in summary form, reviewing scoring and reports for completeness and accuracy, maintaining test materials and equipment, scheduling patients for testing, confirming appointments, maintaining patient files and databases, and assisting with billing and coding procedures. The ideal psychometrist is detail‑oriented and compassionate, with strong communication skills and proficiency in administering and scoring standardized neuropsychological assessments. They demonstrate accuracy, professionalism, and adherence to protocols while effectively supporting patients and collaborating with clinical staff. They excel in documenting behavioral observations, maintaining data integrity, and contributing to efficient clinic operations, including scheduling, recordkeeping, and patient support. Key Functions Administers and scores a basic battery of standardized neuropsychological tests and measures. Scores tests administered. Provides a written summary of the patient's behavior during testing, including any interactions with the patient's family, caregiver's, or peers that may be observed incidentally. Attends training conferences offered by the department as well as by outside organizations. Performs duties at the desired level of competency (i.e., administration and scoring of standardized tests performed with 95% accuracy). Reviews and ensures timeliness, accuracy, availability and security of information. Understands, adheres to and models Core Standards as defined within the department. Performs other duties as assigned. Education Required: Bachelor's Degree Preferred: Master's Degree in Psychology or Applied Neuroscience Experience Required: None Preferred: Experience in neuroscience, strong communication skills, attention to detail, experience working in a clinical setting.
