Staff Accountant

Atrium is partnering with a well-established nonprofit organization that has been making a meaningful impact in the lives of children and families for more than 60 years. This organization is dedicated to empowering youth through life-changing mentoring programs and is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its collaborative Finance team. What You’ll Do Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining the general ledger. Reconcile balance sheet accounts and support month-end and year-end close. Assist with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and payroll accounting. Prepare financial reports and support annual audit activities. Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP. Grant & Fund Accounting Track grant funding and monitor restricted and unrestricted funds. Prepare grant-related financial reports and reconciliations. Partner with program and development teams to ensure accurate financial reporting. Budgeting & Financial Analysis Assist with annual budgeting and monthly financial reporting. Analyze budget-to-actual results and explain variances. Support forecasting, planning, and financial analysis initiatives. Process Improvement Help improve accounting processes and reporting efficiencies. Support system enhancements and other finance projects. Perform additional accounting responsibilities as assigned. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience. Knowledge of GAAP and strong accounting fundamentals. Experience with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting deadlines. Preferred Qualifications Nonprofit or fund accounting experience. Experience with Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, or similar accounting software. Grant accounting and grant reporting experience.
