Diesel Mechanic

Position Description We are looking for a Permanent Full‑Time Mid Level Diesel Technician to support our truck fleet at Ryder in West Sacramento, California. Compensation Hourly Pay: $36.11 per hour Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification up to $700 Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 per quarter Schedule Tuesday – Saturday Second Shift: 2:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred Basic tools, required Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including: routine preventative maintenance, oil changes, brake and tire work, required Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience, preferred Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred This position requires you to drive Ryder vehicles. In order to become a Ryder employee you must: Obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire Pass a Ryder Drug Test Pass a DOT physical Pass a Ryder road test Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties Perform standard vehicle maintenance Perform standard component inspections and repairs Perform preventive maintenance Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required Replace defective components as instructed Perform facility maintenance duties Interact with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT) Perform other support duties as required to support operations, which could include but are not limited to Service Island support Benefits On the job paid training Medical, Dental, Vision after 30 days 80 hours PTO in first year, starting Day 1 Yearly merit pay increases 401(k) company match PPE, uniforms, and boot allowance Safety‑first workplace & state‑of‑the‑art equipment Equal Opportunity Statement Ryder is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and a drug‑free workplace.
