Senior Accountant Position Overview The Senior Accountant will play a key role in maintaining the financial integrity and accuracy of a portfolio of hospitality properties and related investment entities. This position is responsible for month-end and year-end close activities, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting support, audit and tax coordination, and property-level accounting processes. The Senior Accountant will work closely with Controllers, property-level accounting teams, operations, ownership groups, and other stakeholders to translate complex property-level financial activity into accurate, timely, and actionable financial information. Key Responsibilities Financial Accounting & Reporting Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for assigned hotels, properties, and investment entities. Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, adjustments, and general ledger activity. Prepare accurate GAAP-based financial statements and supporting schedules. Develop owner-ready financial reporting packages and provide clear explanations of financial results. Analyze revenue, expenses, profitability, and other key financial metrics to identify trends and variances. Ensure financial records are complete, accurate, and maintained in accordance with established accounting policies and internal controls. Property & Hospitality Accounting Maintain accounting records for multiple hospitality properties and related entities. Analyze operational hotel metrics such as occupancy, average daily rate (ADR), RevPAR, gross operating profit (GOP), labor costs, and departmental expenses. Translate operational results into meaningful financial commentary and variance explanations. Work with property-level teams to resolve accounting discrepancies and ensure timely reporting. Support the integration and accounting setup of newly acquired or transitioned properties. Budgeting & Forecasting Support annual budgeting, reforecasting, and long-range financial planning processes. Review actual results against budgets and forecasts and identify significant variances. Assist with developing rolling forecasts and financial projections. Provide financial analysis and insights to support property performance and investment decisions. Audit & Tax Coordinate and support external financial audits for assigned properties and entities. Prepare audit schedules, financial documentation, reconciliations, and other supporting materials. Coordinate with tax advisors and other external professionals on tax compliance requirements. Monitor deadlines and ensure requested information is provided accurately and on time. Research and resolve audit findings, accounting issues, and other compliance matters. Process Improvement & Internal Controls Develop and maintain scalable accounting processes and procedures for property-level operations. Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, reporting processes, and system utilization. Implement process improvements that reduce manual work, improve efficiency, and strengthen internal controls. Assist with the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures. Ensure accounting processes can effectively support organizational growth and new property acquisitions. Acquisitions & New Property Onboarding Support financial due diligence for prospective acquisitions and new assets. Assist with reviewing and converting historical or seller-provided financial information into established accounting structures. Support chart-of-accounts mapping, system setup, and accounting integration for newly acquired properties. Coordinate with internal teams and external parties to ensure a smooth transition following an acquisition or management change. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Controllers, property accountants, operations teams, and other internal stakeholders to resolve financial issues. Communicate financial results and accounting matters clearly to both accounting and non-accounting audiences. Provide guidance and support to property-level accounting personnel as needed. Assist with special projects, financial analysis, and other accounting initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5 years of progressive accounting experience. Experience in hospitality, real estate, property accounting, investment management, or another multi-entity environment strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience managing month-end and year-end close processes for multiple entities or properties. Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles. Experience preparing financial statements, management reports, reconciliations, and audit schedules. Ability to analyze operating results and translate financial and operational data into meaningful insights. Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency with ERP and accounting systems. Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications CPA or progress toward CPA certification strongly preferred. Experience with hotel or hospitality accounting systems and property management systems. Experience with property-level reporting, owner reporting, and investment entities. Experience supporting acquisitions, financial due diligence, or new property onboarding. Knowledge of hospitality operating metrics, including RevPAR, ADR, occupancy, GOP, and departmental profitability.
