Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) - SOM Med Hematology

UNC Division of Hematology is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our hematologic malignancies inpatient APP nocturnal team. This APP role provides NIGHT time patient care in the inpatient setting caring for patients within the bone marrow transplant program and the malignant hematology program under the division of Hematology. The work schedule includes 13 hour NIGHT shifts (1830-0730) rotating weekends and holidays. Summary A Physician Assistant functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high quality, cost effective care to patients within the APP’s scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards. Responsibilities Clinical: Obtain relevant health and medical history, perform thorough physical assessment, review and interpret diagnostic tests, develop differential diagnoses, implement treatment plans, prescribe/ordering evidence‑based pharmacological agents, conduct preventive health screening, maintain comprehensive patient records, and prioritize work to maintain high productivity. Education: Educate clients/families about medical conditions and treatment, develop educational materials, and provide instruction to clinicians and students. Leadership: Precept, lecture, train staff, participate in community outreach, and lead system improvement initiatives. Professional: Communicate respectfully with patients, families, and coworkers, resolve issues quickly, and share responsibility for workload. Quality/Research: Engage in continuous quality improvement, consult on clinical/system issues, lead interdisciplinary teams, revise protocols, and develop new clinical programs. Other Information Education Requirements Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program. Licensure/Certification Requirements Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina. Board certification if required by the Department. DEA. Professional Experience Requirements No prior experience required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Requirements Demonstrated clinical competency. Effective leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong written, verbal, and analytical communication. Documentation in the medical record for accurate billing.
