Wabtec Now hiring for a Compressor Lead Technician Location: Kansas City, MO Pay Rate: $24.50 per hour Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM Flexibility to work overtime on Fridays and Saturdays as needed. Run the Shift. Lead the Team. Get the Respect. Wabtec is seeking a Compressor Lead Technician to provide daily leadership and operational support within our compressor production line. This hands-on role combines production responsibilities with team leadership, helping drive safety, quality, delivery, productivity, employee development, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Lead serves as a key resource for team members, supporting workflow coordination, communication, training, and operational excellence while partnering closely with supervisors and production leadership. Job Duties Lead and support daily production activities within the assigned manufacturing area. Communicate production goals, priorities, staffing assignments, and expectations. Coordinate workflow to support production schedules and customer commitments. Facilitate shift startup meetings and participate in GEMBA and production discussions. Monitor line performance and address barriers affecting safety, quality, delivery, and productivity. Support employee onboarding, training, mentoring, and cross-training efforts. Promote a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment. Ensure compliance with safety policies, PPE requirements, and quality standards. Identify and elevate safety concerns, quality issues, and operational challenges. Champion 5S, continuous improvement, and workplace organization initiatives. Support staffing coverage and production continuity during operational disruptions. Serve as a communication link between production employees and leadership. Education Requirements High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree, technical training, manufacturing coursework, or leadership development training is preferred. Experience Requirements 2-3 years of manufacturing, assembly, repair, or production experience. Demonstrated leadership ability and experience influencing team performance. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal. Ability to read and follow work instructions, procedures, and specifications. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. Commitment to safety, quality, and employee engagement. Preferred Qualifications Two or more years of manufacturing, warehouse, or production experience is preferred. Previous supervisory, team lead, shift lead, or production leadership experience is strongly preferred. Experience with Lean manufacturing, 5S, continuous improvement, production metrics, scheduling, or quality systems is beneficial. Experience coordinating with maintenance, quality, warehouse, engineering, or other operational departments is considered an asset. Individuals who are dependable, proactive, solutions-oriented, and able to motivate a diverse production team are well positioned for success as a Compressor Lead Technician. Bilingual English/Spanish skills. Experience training, coaching, or mentoring employees. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer-based systems. Mechanical aptitude and manufacturing leadership experience. Physical Capabilities Ability to stand and walk throughout production areas for extended periods during the shift. Ability to bend, reach, climb stairs, and move throughout manufacturing or warehouse environments as required. Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to safely work around production machinery, material handling equipment, noise, and other conditions common to manufacturing environments.
