Safety Care Associate, Short Term Care - Toms River, NJ

Job Title: Safety Care Associate Location: Central Jersey Behavioral Health Center, 1691 U.S. Highway 9, Toms River, NJ 08755 Facility: RWJBarnabas Health Behavioral Health Center Department: Short Term Care (STC) Status: Per Diem, Hourly Shift: Day Pay Range: $24.67 per hour Job Overview The Safety Care Associate is a Patient Care Associate with experience working with dual-diagnosis patients who will have a primary focus on ensuring the safe milieu of the unit. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Conducting mandatory Q15 patient safety checks Environmental safety rounds 1:1 patient safety watches Assisting with group facilitation Searching and logging patient belongings Under the direct supervision of the unit director or designee, the Safety Care Associate will assist with providing direct patient care and reinforcing Safety Together core values, implementing safety initiatives, and participating as a member of the Workplace Violence committee. All methods of practice and/or work performance shall conform to written established hospital policies and procedures and be carried to the highest achievable level of competence in a manner demonstrating concern and consideration. Qualifications Required: High School graduate or GED Minimum one-year of experience Successful completion of orientation, mandatory education and trainings Preferred: Certified Addiction Social Worker (CADC) Experience working in a behavioral health setting Previous experience as a Home Health Aide, Nurse Aide, Patient Care Associate, or Patient Care Technician Knowledge and experience working with substance-abuse disorders and dually diagnosed population Certifications and Licenses Required BLS Certification from the American Heart Association Scheduling Requirements Day shifts Per Diem Every other weekend required Essential Functions 1:1 patient safety watches Environmental safety rounds Assisting with group facilitation Search and logging of patient belongings Conducting mandatory Q15 patient safety checks Other Things To Know This job description outlines the core responsibilities of the role, but it’s not meant to cover every task you may take on.
