Travel Surgical Tech/ORT - Certified Surgical Technologist/CST

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist with specialized experience in Eye, ENT, and Plastics surgery for a Tier 7 OR Tech role at a Level I/II trauma teaching hospital.

Requirements

• Minimum two years of scrub experience or equivalent relevant experience required
• Completion of a surgical technologist program, or two years of experience as a Surgical Technologist may be considered in lieu of program completion
• BLS certification from AHA required
• CST certification preferred
• License required if applicable
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Experience with ENT, plastics, and ophthalmology procedures required
• Must be comfortable caring for gender reassignment surgical patients
• Skilled in aseptic technique, isolation precautions/PPE, and specimen handling/labeling
• Experience with electrosurgical units, drills, fiber optic equipment, cell saver, and crash cart preferred
• Experience in ophthalmology procedures such as cataract extraction, corneal transplant, glaucoma surgery, and vitrectomy
• Experience in oral and craniotomy procedures preferred
• Experience in ENT procedures including mastoidectomy, tympanoplasty, stapedectomy, tonsillectomy, and adenoidectomy

Responsibilities

• General OR setting within a Level I/II trauma teaching hospital
• Specializes in Eye, ENT, and Plastics surgical cases including vitrectomy, open globe repair, abdominoplasty, DIEP flap breast reconstruction, free flap, and laparoscopic procedures
• ENT cases include arch bars, facial repairs, sinus surgery, radical neck dissection, tracheostomy, septoplasty, and direct laryngoscopy
• Performs cochlear implant procedures
• Uses specialized equipment including Constellation, Straight Shot, liposuction, neoprobe, NIM, Piezo, Klein Pump, and Stryker Navigation
• Uses Pentero, Mitaka, and Leica microscopes
• Day/evening 12-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, scheduled 0640-1910 or 1040-2310
• Weekday and weekend call responsibilities with possible holiday call
• First 1-2 weeks follow a different orientation shift schedule
• Travelers required to float as needed
• Support surgical teams across Eye, ENT, and Plastics specialties in a high-acuity academic medical center
• Maintain sterile fields and assist with instrumentation during complex reconstructive and microsurgical procedures
• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• First-time travelers not specified as accepted or excluded
• A telemetry exam with strict pass/fail criteria is required prior to start, including adult and pediatric rhythm identification components
• Facility is a Magnet-designated teaching hospital recognized as a leading referral center
