The Residential Habilitation Specialist may be called upon to perform activities of daily living for individuals who require total support.Essential Accountabilities1. Assist in the planning and developing of goals and service plans. Implementation of teaching strategies designed to maximize each individual’s level of independence. Such training includes, but is not limited to:a) Activities of daily living \ self-care (hygiene, grooming, dressing, eating, toileting, showering, tooth brushing, shaving, etc.)b) independent living (cooking, housekeeping, clothing care)c) Use of community resources (public transportation, stores, museums, libraries, parks, etc.)d) Language and communicatione) Motor development/mobilityf) Social and emotional developmentg) Functional academics (money usage, telling time, measurement, reading, writing, math)2. Monitor individuals’ progress by documenting performance in progress notes.3. Provide behavioral interventions when necessary following OMRDD approved techniques. Duties may require the Residential Habilitation Specialist to physically intervene.4. Participate in and attend staff meetings and in-service training at various sites.5. Communicate information verbally and in writing to the individuals’ service coordinator, supervisor and to other staff as necessary.6. Caseloads and work schedules are subject to change, based on consumer need/choice.7. Must be able to physically interact with the program individuals, negotiate the environment independently including assisting in all SCIP interventions, emergency CPR and or first aid techniques and fire drills.8. Always maintain confidentially.9.
