Maintenance Technician

This role supports a high-speed corrugated box converting facility, where you will keep complex production equipment running in a fast-paced, just-in-time manufacturing environment. You will diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic issues on high-speed converting equipment and ensure downtime is minimized in a high-pressure, continuous operation.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot equipment issues from screen to fault, identifying root causes and implementing effective repairs on high-speed converting machinery.
• Maintain and repair specialty folder gluers, compression tables, die cutters, and other high-speed converting equipment in a corrugated sheet plant environment.
• Respond to reactive maintenance needs, performing approximately 80% reactive and 20% preventive maintenance activities.
• Perform electrical troubleshooting on systems up to 480 volts, including motors, drives, and control circuits.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical components such as gear systems, pulleys, rollers, conveyors, and strappers.
• Work extensively on pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of pneumatic components.
• Maintain and troubleshoot pumps, including those used in ink systems and other plant processes.
• Conduct calibrations on relevant equipment to ensure accuracy and reliable operation.
• Inspect and maintain drives and motor systems, including alignment, replacement, and performance checks.
• Service and replace belts and related drive components to ensure reliable material handling and machine performance.
• Troubleshoot and repair ink systems used in corrugated box production.
• Support conveyor systems and material handling equipment to ensure smooth product flow throughout the facility.
• Read and interpret schematics and equipment documentation to guide troubleshooting and repair activities.
• Perform basic PLC and control system troubleshooting as needed, particularly on Siemens, Wiege, and Mitsubishi control platforms.
• Assist with preventive maintenance tasks, including inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and scheduled component replacements.
• Collaborate with production staff to understand equipment issues and prioritize maintenance activities in a just-in-time environment.
• Work safely and efficiently under high-pressure conditions where equipment downtime is unacceptable.
• Adapt to changing priorities and support production needs, including working extended hours and every other Saturday when required.

Work Environment

This role is based in a high-speed corrugated sheet plant that operates 24 hours per day, five days per week. The facility runs multiple primary machines continuously, including specialty folders, compression tables, die cutters, and related high-speed converting equipment. The environment is fast-paced and high pressure due to just-in-time production requirements, where equipment uptime is critical and downtime is not acceptable. Shifts are 10 hours per day, with day shifts typically running from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and night shifts typically running from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Monday through Friday, or 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on designated days. Team members must be flexible and able to work every other Saturday if needed. You will work around electrical systems up to 480 volts, as well as motors, drives, pumps, pneumatic systems, ink systems, conveyors, rollers, strappers, and belt-driven equipment. The role requires comfort in an industrial manufacturing environment with continuous machine operation and a strong focus on safety and reliability.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $36.00/hr.
