Job Title: RN - Neonatal ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Neonatal ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 hours Experience: 2 years of strong Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU experience License: RN Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: MUST be comfortable in a high acuity, fast-paced environment. Description: This position involves providing care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The unit typically has 53 beds plus overflow with an average patient census of 58. Patient ratios may vary based on acuity: 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3. Common patient diagnoses include respiratory distress syndrome, congenital heart defects, seizures, and necrotizing enterocolitis, among others. Skills required include EPIC experience, management of critical care vasoactive drips, and feeding tube management. The RN will need experience with ventilators, chest tubes, and sedation management. Support is provided by a unit secretary, charge nurse, and various healthcare professionals available 24/7. The culture of the unit emphasizes teamwork, trust, accountability, respect, and compassionate care. Dress code requires scrubs in navy or white without branded attire. Practice guidelines dictate no watches or artificial nails in the nursery. Weekend rotation and holiday work are expected, with specific scheduling requirements.
