Billing 1,950 hours is only painful when half of them feel pointless.

The number here is 1,950. What's different is where those hours go. At some firms a big share of them disappear into busywork: status reports nobody reads, chasing records that should have been requested months ago, and rewriting the same letter for a draft that goes round in circles. The hours count, but they don't build anything.

I'm Ryan Jaiswal at Distinct Recruitment, and I'm hiring for bodily injury and personal injury defense with an insurance defense firm in Miami that doesn't bury its associates in that kind of work. The hours go on cases you're actually running.

- Defending bodily injury and personal injury claims arising from premises, auto and general negligence

- Your own caseload, with depositions, hearings and mediations to match

- Working up damages: medical records, treating physicians, IME experts and life care planners

- Carriers you'll deal with directly, so you learn how value is really assessed

- Files built toward trial, with trial exposure available

What you'll need

- Florida Bar membership

- 2+ years of litigation experience, with no upper limit

- Plaintiff side experience is genuinely useful here, so don't rule yourself out if that's your background

How it works

- Hybrid working from Miami

- 1,950 billable hours

What it pays

- $125,000 to $200,000, broad enough for a 2nd year or a counsel level lawyer

The difference good hours make

Two associates can bill identical hours and end the year in very different places. One has taken fifteen depositions, argued a dozen motions and built relationships with three adjusters. The other has produced a lot of paper. The first is on the way to trial work and a bigger career. This role is designed for the first.
