Market Development Manager

Position Summary This position is responsible for driving sales performance by managing sales, retail execution, operations and key relationships at Wholesaler(s) in an assigned geographic area. The incumbent partners with an area General Manager to set priorities and execute the business plan for a high priority sales territory. Responsibilities Wholesaler Management . Manage and direct a group of Wholesalers, including execution of Constellation’s Retail Vision and Wholesaler Standards and Practices. Direct and implement training and development initiatives. Supervise and monitor allocation and use of all point‑of‑sale materials in accordance with budgeting and account/market objectives. Provide support for National and key Regional On‑Premise accounts. Sales Planning . Develop plans and goals for all National Sales Priorities (volume, distribution and seasonal applications). Conduct annual planning meetings with Wholesalers to set Constellation goals. Identify market‑specific opportunities to grow share. Partner with the area GM on ABP/Trimester planning meetings. Trimester Planning . Develop trimester plans with the area GM, set volume and distribution goals for Wholesalers, and determine programming, CTF and Wholesaler Tactical expenditure levels. Pricing . Identify market pricing opportunities and make recommendations. Notify and gain commitment from Wholesalers on approved price changes, ensuring target PTR/PTC’s are executed. Evaluate new product market‑level pricing and determine go‑forward approach. CTF Budgets . Develop CTF investment strategy at the Wholesaler Level by Sales Priority, prepare the annual business plan for review, communicate the plan, and monitor budget compliance. New Products . Execute new product roll‑out plans in conjunction with Key Account, National Account and Wholesalers. Volume Driving Initiatives . Identify performance gaps, recommend corrective actions, develop tactics and resource plans for initiatives, and ensure Wholesaler network commitment throughout execution. Supply Chain . Ensure adequate product inventory levels and proper inventory rotation. Prioritize supply‑chain issues and recommend appropriate action to GM. Complete other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in the CPG business. Minimum of 3 years of consumer product sales and sales management experience. Computer literacy, advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and IBM Lotus Notes. Experience using Cognos 7/8 and Retail Vision sales reporting tools. Ability to travel at least 30% of the time (15% if Emerging Distributor MDM) and drive up to 5 hours. Preferred Qualifications Proactive initiative in identifying customer issues, recommending solutions, and executing effectively. Track record building effective relationships with customers and internal associates. Diligence and follow‑through on all commitments. Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to achieve performance goals with minimal direction. Strong analytical and math skills. Physical Requirements / Work Environment Stand, walk, sit, move up to 55 lbs, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms. Climb or balance stairs/ladders; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Talk and hear, with close and distant vision and the ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision. Stand for extended periods; sit and/or stand for long periods and work on a computer for extended periods. Valid driver’s license, ability to drive a car, and travel by plane/train as needed.
