Senior Systems Engineer - Electrical Power Systems & Team Lead

Summary

We are seeking a high-caliber Senior Systems Engineer & Engineering Team Lead to define our technical foundation, architect our next-generation power solutions, and lead our multi-disciplinary engineering design team.

\n

In this pivotal role, you will own the end-to-end systems engineering lifecycle—bridging the gap between product management requirements and physical engineering execution. You will drive the architecture of our multi-MW modular infrastructure, up to Medium Voltage (MV), ensuring our modular solutions are safe, highly resilient, and optimized for rapid deployment.

Key Responsibilities

\n

1. Technical Leadership & Team Management

\n

\n
• Lead a Multidisciplinary Team: Direct, mentor, and build a high-performing design team consisting of electrical, mechanical, and controls/software engineers.
\n
• Engineering Governance: Establish robust engineering workflows, design standards, and enforce peer-review processes to ensure institutional quality and safety.
\n
• Resource & Project Coordination: Collaborate with Project Management to assign engineering resources, manage design schedule, and achieve timely product deliverables.
\n

2. Systems Engineering & Architecture Definition

\n

\n
• Requirements Ownership: Translate high-level market requirements (MRDs) into rigorous, traceable system-level technical requirements, functional specifications, and interface control documents (ICDs).
\n
• System-Level Architecture: Oversee the architecture and development of robust 3-phase electrical power distribution systems. Define the electrical, mechanical, thermal, and logical boundaries and interfaces.
\n
• Verification & Validation (V&V): Formulate comprehensive verification matrices, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) protocols, and field commissioning guidelines to validate system performance.
\n

3. Electrical Power Systems Engineering

\n

\n
• Critical Component Integration: Evaluate, specify, and select heavy electrical subsystems including high-capacity double-conversion UPS systems, static transfer switches (STS), switchgear, protective relays, and other critical subsystems.
\n
• Engineering Studies: Direct and review system modeling analyses, including short-circuit, protective relay coordination, arc flash, and harmonic mitigation studies.
\n
• Compliance Alignment: Ensure all system architectures natively comply with industry-defining standards (e.g., UL 9540A for BESS, UL 891/1558 for switchgear, NFPA 70/70E, and CE/IEC equivalents).
\n
• DFX (Design for X): Partner with manufacturing and service teams to optimize designs for manufacturability, transportability, and fast field installation.
\n

Technical Expertise & Methodologies

\n

\n
• Power Systems: Expert-level mastery of 3-phase AC/DC power systems, MV/LV power conversion topologies, utility protection schemes, and grounding methods.
\n
• Systems Engineering: Hands-on experience with systems engineering frameworks, specifically boundary diagrams, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and requirements traceability matrices.
\n
• Grid Connection: Strong familiarity with utility interconnection requirements and power quality standards.
\n

Tools & Software

\n

\n
• Electrical Modeling: Proficiency with industry-standard simulation software (e.g., ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower).
\n
• Systems & Design Tools: Familiarity with PLM software, requirements management tools, and CAD collaboration workflows (e.g., SolidWorks/AutoCAD Electrical).
\n

Physical Demands

• Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
\n
• Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
\n
• Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
\n
• Occasional travel may be required.
\n

Salary

\n

The stated range includes Base Salary. A comprehensive benefits package is offered in addition to this range.

\n

\n

The range described in this posting is an estimate by the Company, and may change based on several factors, including but not limited to a change in the duties covered by the job posting, or the credentials, experience or geographic jurisdiction of the successful candidate.

\n

Base Salary Range: $118K- $162K

\n

Typical Experience

\n

\n
• 8+ Years in heavy industrial power systems design, power generation, utility-scale renewables, or data center infrastructure engineering.
\n
• 3+ Years in a formal technical leadership or engineering management role leading cross-functional teams (Electrical, Mechanical, and Controls).
\n
• Proven experience bringing complex, modular, or containerized capital equipment products from concept to commercial manufacturing.
\n

Typical Education

\n

\n
• Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (EE).
\n
• Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical/Systems Engineering and/or active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
\n
