Senior Energy Storage Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Energy Storage Engineer to support the planning, engineering, design, and execution of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from early development through construction and completion.

This position will provide technical leadership across engineering, equipment selection and integration, design review, procurement, construction, and project execution. The successful candidate will work closely with project management, engineering, procurement, construction teams, EPC partners, equipment manufacturers, and other technical stakeholders.

\n

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Support the engineering and design of utility-scale BESS projects, including battery systems, power conversion equipment, controls, and associated electrical infrastructure.
\n
• Review engineering drawings, calculations, studies, specifications, and design packages for technical accuracy, constructability, and overall design quality.
\n
• Identify and resolve engineering issues and recommend technical solutions that improve project performance and execution.
\n
• Develop and review technical scopes of work, equipment specifications, and procurement requirements.
\n
• Provide engineering support throughout development, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project completion.
\n
• Collaborate with EPC contractors, engineering firms, OEMs, and equipment suppliers to successfully integrate major BESS components and systems.
\n
• Provide technical guidance on engineering decisions, design requirements, equipment selection, and system integration.
\n
• Monitor engineering deliverables, project milestones, technical risks, and outstanding issues.
\n
• Support the specification and procurement of major electrical and energy-storage equipment.
\n
• Evaluate technical and permitting considerations and recommend appropriate site and system design solutions.
\n
• Work across multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical challenges involving energy storage systems, electrical equipment, controls, and supporting infrastructure.
\n
• Travel to project sites and other locations as needed to support engineering, construction, commissioning, and project execution.

Qualifications

\n

\n
• 3+ years of relevant engineering experience in battery energy storage, Solar PV, electrical engineering, renewable energy, construction, or related infrastructure.
\n
• Experience with utility-scale BESS and/or renewable energy projects strongly preferred.
\n
• Technical experience in one or more of the following:
\n
• Battery Energy Storage System design
\n
• Power electronics
\n
• Substation design
\n
• Generation tie/interconnection design
\n
• Working knowledge of battery technologies and chemistries, Power Conversion Systems (PCS), and DC/DC converters.
\n
• Ability to review technical drawings, engineering studies, specifications, and equipment requirements.
\n
• Experience supporting projects through multiple phases of development and execution.
\n
• Strong analytical, technical problem-solving, organizational, and project-management capabilities.
\n
• Ability to independently manage technical assignments and provide sound engineering recommendations.
\n
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with engineers, project managers, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.

Codes & Standards Knowledge

\n

Familiarity with applicable energy-storage and electrical codes and standards, including UL 1973, UL 9540, UL 9540A, NFPA 855, NFPA 70E, NEC, and applicable IFC/IBC requirements.

\n

Familiarity with relevant Solar PV standards, including IEC 61215, IEC 61646, and IEC 61730, is also beneficial.
