Job Title Open Rank: Climate and Biogeochemical Coastal Systems Professor (Center for Urban and Coastal Climate Science Research) Overview Morgan State University invites applications for a 9.5‑month tenure‑track position to support the newly established Center for Urban and Coastal Climate Science Research. The Center is dedicated to addressing complex challenges related to climate change and its impact on natural ecosystems, the built environment, the economy, and the health and well-being of Maryland residents. Candidates will commence full‑time appointment in August 2025. Compensation and Benefits Salary ranges based on rank and discipline: Assistant Professor: $75,000 – $120,000 Associate Professor: $80,000 – $130,000 Professor: $95,000 – $170,000 Benefits are included in the State of Maryland benefit package. Responsibilities Establish an independent, externally funded research program focused on climate and biogeochemical coastal systems. Mentor and supervise postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and research technicians. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses. Publish research findings in highly regarded peer‑reviewed journals. Qualifications Ph.D. in a relevant discipline from an accredited university. Track record of research productivity that examines and addresses climate and biogeochemical coastal systems in areas such as coastal and marine geochemistry, biogeochemistry of trace elements and contaminants, geomicrobiology, biogeochemical cycles, geodynamics, and chemical/physical oceanography. Demonstrated potential to develop a dynamic, nationally recognized, externally funded research program.
