Chief Executive Officer

This Chief Executive Officer role serves as the senior leader of the organization and is accountable to the Board of Directors for overall strategic, operational, financial, and clinical performance across a Critical Access Hospital, rural health clinics, and related health services. The CEO partners with the Board to advance the organization’s mission, maintain long-term sustainability, and ensure continued access to high-quality care close to the communities served. The CEO will serve as the primary liaison and partner to a Board of Directors and will facilitate board development, strategic planning, and policy implementation. Responsibilities include leading development and execution of long-range strategic and master facility plans; positioning the organization for rural healthcare sustainability; developing regional partnerships and service line growth strategies; championing innovation in care delivery, workforce models, and technology; and directly leading the senior executive team. The CEO is also expected to ensure compliance with relevant federal conditions of participation and accreditation requirements, develop value-based care readiness and population health initiatives, establish and reinforce a high-trust, high-accountability leadership culture, support the development of future rural healthcare leaders, and promote physician and advanced practice provider alignment and engagement. Additional responsibilities include acting as the organization’s primary ambassador to the community, legislators, and regional health system partners; developing philanthropy and grant development efforts; building ongoing relationships with members of the service area community in a culturally sensitive manner; and ensuring performance improvement and customer experience goals are supported with adequate resources. The CEO will manage hospital operations and budgeting, including planning net revenue and cash flow for financial viability and overseeing revenue cycle performance and cost-based reimbursement optimization; uphold organizational Standards of Excellence; and demonstrate adherence to the organization’s Code of Conduct and applicable privacy and compliance requirements. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least ten years of progressively responsible senior leadership experience in hospital administration, along with strong communication and relationship-building skills across organizational and community levels, and the successful completion of a background check.
