Responsibilities Schedule: Monday - Friday 0730-1600 - 8.5 hour shifts No Holidays, No on call, or Weekends! Core Duties: Perform a full range of physician services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF. Direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals within the scope of the clinical privileges or responsibilities. Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges. Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physical, positive health behaviors, and self‑care skills through education and counseling. Order diagnostic tests and request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated. Technically proficient in directing and teaching other medical staff, providing educational lectures and participating in the provision of in‑service training to clinic staff members. Additional Core Duties: Utilize knowledge of new and advanced diagnostic techniques to serve as an authoritative consultant on complicated diagnostic and treatment problems, recognizing rare and difficult symptoms through comprehensive knowledge of pathology, general medicine, emergency medicine, basic sciences, and regulations. Provide on‑site assessment for cytologic adequacy examinations of fine needle aspirations in various areas of the hospital. Work with patients' body fluids or tissue to test for and evaluate a variety of pathologies. Perform gross examinations to obtain diagnostic information from specimens, including stage and margin status of surgically removed tumors, and gather information during the preparation of tissue samples for microscopic examination. Gross specimens for processing as directed by the Anatomic Pathology Medical Director. Prepare patients' specimens for examination and/or intraoperative consultations. Confirm patients' test results by verifying diagnosis is supported by other diagnostics, such as cross‑referencing, and respond to physician inquiries about pathology results or disease conditions. Serve on the NMCSD tumor board as directed by the Anatomic Pathology Medical Director. Provide accurate information about the pathogenesis, histogenesis, biology, and differential diagnosis of body fluids and tissues. Maintain confidentiality of all patients' medical data, including Personally Identifiable Information/Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (PH/ HIPAA). Participate in meetings and committees as directed by the lab department head. Support administrative tasks relevant to the laboratory and pathology services as directed by the department head. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Degree: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.). Education: Graduation from a U.S., Canadian, or AMA‑approved medical school, or an AOA‑approved osteopathic school, or a medical school with ECFMG certification. Certification: Board certification through the American Board of Pathology in both Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Subspecialty certification preferred, but not required. Training: Completion of a graduate medical education program in pathology or a pathology subspecialty accredited by the ACGME. Experience: At least five years of independent clinical practice. Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted medical license in the state of California. Life Support Certification: Current AHA or ARC BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
