No Offer Description DATE OF PUBLICATION JUNE 30, 2026 The candidate for the position of Assistant Professor /Post-Doc/Young Doctorin the MAB FENG project entitled "Centre of Excellence for Structured Fiber Optics and Applications" will perform the following tasks: Design andmodeling, fabrication and characterization of specialty optical fibers. Development of new numerical methods for modeling specialty optical fibers. Experimental and numerical study of phenomena occurring in specialty optical fibers. Experimental research involving the development and testing of new types of specialty optical fibers for use in telecommunications, lasers and sensors. Cooperation with the technology team, young scientists, and students. Publishing the results in scientific journals. Participating in seminars, conferences, and training The employment will take place in accordance with the FNP regulations, in particular the employed person must meet the following conditions jointly: at the time of receiving remuneration, they will not be receiving any other remuneration paid from the funds granted to research projects under FNP calls under the heading of direct costs; the PI was not a supervisor or auxiliary supervisor of the candidate; in the period of receiving the remuneration they will be receiving no remuneration from another employer pursuant to an employment contract, including an employer with registered office outside of Poland; will be employed for at least 6 months. (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland 2024, item 1571 with further amendments ) Requirements Research Field Physics » Optics Education Level PhD or equivalent Skills/Qualifications Candidates for the position of ASSISTANT PROFESSOR in the research staff group must meet the conditions set out in the University of Warsaw Statutes: A PhD in science or engineering, preferably in physics, chemistry, mathematics, or technical sciences in the field of electronics, material engineering or computer science, awarded within 5 recalculated years prior to the date of announcement of the competition, in accordance with the definition of an early-career postdoctoral researcher under the MAB FENG program. Having a scientific track record documented by scientific publications and experience in theoretical or experimental research involving passive, active, specialty optical fibers, or in modeling linear and nonlinear phenomena—including the use of deep learning methods—in the field of optical fibers and optical phenomena or in optical glass synthesis or in the fabrication of specialty optical fibers. Experience in working in research teams. Knowledge of the MATLAB, LabView, Python, PyTorch, or TensorFlow computing environment, or issues related to the synthesis of optical glasses, or the fabrication processes of specialty optical fibers, or the metrology of specialty optical fibers. Fluent in spoken and written English. Fulfillment of the requirements specified in Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science(Dz.U. 2024, poz. 1571 t.j.). Specific Requirements The candidate must meet the specified requirements: – The candidate must meet the requirements established by the FNP for persons employed in post-doctoral positions in MAB FENG projects. In particular, the person employed in this position must hold a doctoral degree obtained no earlier than 5 years before the year of employment in the project. The 5-year period is calculated from the year in which the doctoral degree was obtained. The beginning of this period is determined by the calendar year in which the degree was awarded, and the end of the period is the year preceding the deadline for submitting applications in the call. The 5-year period may be extended by all documented periods of interruption in scientific work occurring after the date of obtaining the doctoral degree, provided that only interruptions lasting no less than 6 months will be taken into account. Documented interruptions in scientific work include, among others, unpaid leave, parental leave, interruptions caused by long‑term illness, employment in the R&D sector without participation in scientific research, employment in other sectors of the economy, etc. For women who have given birth to a child, or persons who have adopted a child, the 5-year period shall be extended by 1 year for each child, regardless of the date of birth or adoption of the child, even if the documented period of leave or work interruption related to this was shorter. – Employment will be in accordance with FNP regulations. In particular, the person employed must meet all of the following conditions: during the period of receiving this remuneration, they will not receive any other remuneration from funds allocated as direct costs of research projects financed in FNP competitions; the project manager was not the supervisor or co‑supervisor of their doctoral dissertation; during the period of receiving this remuneration, they will not receive remuneration from another employer under an employment contract, including an employer based outside Poland; they will be employed for a period of not less than 6 months. Pasteura 5, 02-093 Warsaw, on period until 31.12.2029. Commencement employment in the third quarter of 2026, Remuneration in accordance with the FNP regulations for postdocs ( PLN 324,000 gross‑gross per year ). Eligibility criteria Each member of the selection committee evaluates each candidate by awarding points in three categories: scientific achievements, including publications in reputable scientific publications/journals (max. 40 points) achievements resulting from the conduct of scientific research, scholarships, awards and scientific experience gained at home or abroad, scientific workshops and training, participation in research projects (max. 20 points) competence to carry out specific tasks in the research project (max. 40 pts.) Total to obtain: 100 points from each committee member. The candidate who meets the entry requirements and obtains the highest number of points, not less than 60% of points, will win. 2.
