Schedule: Flexible 4-hour or 8-hour shifts; approximately 10+ hours/week

Position Overview

We are recruiting Nurse Practitioners for a high-priority nationwide locum opportunity supporting medical evaluations for U.S. Veterans.

Providers conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations and Separation Health Assessments. These are primarily evaluation-based appointments rather than ongoing patient treatment. Exams consist largely of interviews, medical history review and appropriate physical assessments.

There are two ways to participate , depending on location:

Option 1 – Work from Your Own Office: Providers in designated markets may see assigned Veterans from their own qualifying professional office.

Option 2 – Work from a VES Office: Providers in designated markets may perform examinations from an established VES office location. A private office is not required for these locations.

This makes the opportunity suitable both for established NPs with their own clinical space and qualified NPs seeking locum work without maintaining an independent office.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have:

• Master's degree or higher
• Active NP or FNP license
• Valid AANP certification
• At least 1 year of experience in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Orthopedics
• Active NPI number
• Ability to complete reports/DBQs within 48 hours following examinations
• Appropriate state licensure for the location in which services will be performed

Candidates should be prepared to provide their NP license number, state(s) of licensure and NPI number during screening.

Responsibilities

Providers will perform C&P examinations and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans, conduct primarily interview-based examinations with appropriate physical assessments, document evaluations in the provider portal, complete and submit DBQs within 48 hours, and respond to necessary follow-up requests such as addendums and medical opinions.

These are evaluation-focused encounters and should not be marketed as traditional primary-care patient management.

Schedule

Providers may select:

• Half days – approximately 4 hours
• Full days – approximately 8 hours
• Flexible locum availability based on local examination demand

Some follow-up administrative work is required after examinations.

Compensation

Compensation is based primarily on the number and complexity of DBQs completed:

Service Provider Compensation

• Level A – 1–2 DBQs $81.25
• Level B – 3–5 DBQs $182.00
• Level C – 6–9 DBQs $299.00
• Level D – 10–13 DBQs $419.25
• Level E – 14–17 DBQs $533.00
• Medical Opinion with Exam $32.50
• Medical Opinion without Exam $48.75
• No Show $32.20

Compensation may vary based on examination volume, DBQ complexity and services completed. Candidates will receive complete compensation details during the screening/discovery process.
