Staff Physical TherapistSalary Range: $47.40 - 65.33Pay rates are determined based on experience and internal equity.Position Summary:This position reports to the Director of Rehabilitation Services. The staff physical therapist plans, coordinates and implements patient care on the assigned units including the acute care hospital and skilled nursing facility as directed by the DOR. Ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner consistent with the unit's standards of care. Demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing systems; expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical; treats staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life-span and the skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Is able to interpret data about the patient's status in order to identify each patient's age-specific needs and provide the care needed by the patient group. Must supervise department staff in absence of department director. Must work well under stress or tight deadlines. Must work well with supervisors, co-workers, patients/residents, family members and visitors.District Responsibility:Support of the District Mission and ValuesDemonstrate Respect, Professionalism and Courtesy to all patients, visitors, other providers and coworkers, as delineated in the LVMC "Commitment to Care".Constantly use C-I-CARE principles when communicating with others.Performance Improvement ActivitiesProfessional DevelopmentPosition Duties/Responsibility:Performs evaluations of patientsPerforms treatment of patientsMaintains current documentation of patients progress/complaintsCommunicates with physicians regarding patient careResponsible for set up of treatment area and clean up following treatmentAble to interpret data from all areas of patient chart when determining patient needsCommunicates with patient and family regarding therapy goals and needs prior to dischargeSeeks continuing education appropriate to maintain up to date skill levelsDelegates care to physical therapy assistant and maintains proper supervision of patient careCo-signs all documentation when appropriateResponsible for educating other departments in body mechanics, CPM, and traction set-upAble to utilize the computerized charting system.Position Competencies.Other duties assigned by a supervisor/director.Essential Functions:The ability to maintain a valid California PT license and CPR certification.The ability to maintain a valid California driver's license and be insurable through the District's carrier.The ability to participate in all elements of performing Physical Therapist job duties.The ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.The ability to keyboard and use various computer programs.The ability to be supervised.The ability to work as a Team.The ability to have positive personal interactions with staff, patients/residents and visitors.Position Qualifications:Education: PT with current valid California license.Experience: One year of acute care rehabilitative experience, new graduate may be considered.Cert/License: Current/valid PT License, CPR Certification and California Drivers license.Skills/Ability: Knowledge of physical therapy treatment to patients of all ages. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Exhibits the ability to organize work assignments and follow through with accuracy; exercise good judgment; demonstrate initiative, emotional stability, tact and poise.LVMC reserves the right to modify the minimum requirements depending on the needs of the organization.
