The ABF group delivers full service-based capabilities to MUFG’s clients including origination, underwriting, portfolio management, collateral monitoring, syndication and agency services. The ABF Group looks to create a challenging, motivating and rewarding working environment for the Group’s staff and operating partners, supporting and furthering the careers of all of the Group’s employees according to their skills.Job Summary:The role will primarily focus on ABF’s structuring and underwriting efforts and marketing support with some client interaction as well as involvement in the syndication process. In coordination with Relationship Managers and other product providers, the Associate will underwrite and syndicate ABF transactions for companies across various industries. The Associate will focus on borrower analysis including assessing risk factors associated with the borrower’s credit and collateral, determine appropriate rating based on established policies and guidelines, and be responsible for creating and submitting credit packages through internal systems. Reports to ABF Underwriting Manager.Responsibilities: Structuring, Underwriting & ExecutionIn conjunction with the ABF Origination team, evaluate customer information to determine optimal financing structure and security packageAssist ABF Underwriting deal team lead on transactionsPerform financial due diligence coordinating with deal team, third parties and borrowersPerform collateral due diligence, including review and analysis of collateral reportsPrepare detailed financial models and stress tests, analyze companies' future performance, debt capacity and collateral positionManage internal transaction approval process: draft approval memoranda and submit through internal systems, present to management and credit committee, interact with credit officersWork with Senior Staff to draft and negotiate commitment letters and credit agreementsCoordinate with Syndication team: draft offering memoranda and presentation for investors, organize bank meetings, answer investor due diligence questionsLead deal closing process including coordinating with legal counsel to ensure all necessary legal diligence is conducted and loan documents are prepared reflecting the bank’s credit approval and terms and conditionsPolicy ComplianceEnsure compliance with external regulatory/internal policy and procedural requirementsParticipate in ad-hoc policy meetings to enhance organization wide credit risk frameworkSupport and mentor junior analysts in credit risk management processTrain and support junior staff on assigned transactionsGuide junior staff in completing complex assignmentsStudy, develop and enhance analytical skills of the team through close communicationSkills and Experience:3+ years of relevant financial experience; specifically in Asset-Based Lending preferredBachelor’s degree or equivalent; MBA a plusCorporate finance professional with solid credit and analytical backgroundCompletion of a formal credit-training program at a money center bank a plusStrong written, verbal and interpersonal skillsStrong financial modeling skills is a mustField Exam or Appraisal Experience a plusCompensation and Benefits:The typical base pay range for this role is between $130k - $165k depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location with eligibility for discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
