Medical Assistant PositionCHRISTIAN COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER is a community-based not-for-profit organization founded in 1991 to address the lack of health care. The agency was formed with a mission to provide high quality primary healthcare and related services to the community regardless of ability to pay. While primary medical care is our anchor program, CCHC has become equally renowned for our presence as a multi-pronged social service agency.Under the leadership of the Health Care Coordinator, this position provides medical and clerical assistance to the Primary Care Provider (PCP). The Medical assistant performs many job duties to keep the Clinic running smoothly. The primary function is to greet, screen and prepare patients for the providers to attend to their nature of illness using professionalism and excellent customer service.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Providing medical and clerical assistance to providers as needed in the office and mobile health vanGreeting patientsMeasuring and recording vital signs for patients of all ages which includes blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate, temperature, pain assessments, height, weight and head circumference as neededTaking medical historiesPreparing patients for medical tests and examinationsPreparing exam rooms for patient examinations and specialized testing or procedures i.e. gynecological testing, wound care, colposcopy etc.Assisting physicians during examinations and proceduresPerforming electrocardiogram (EKG) as ordered by PCPPerforming routine waived laboratory tests and sample analyses, i.e., urine dipstick, Accu-Check, HCG, etc.Providing wound care: cleaning wound and changing dressingExplaining medical procedures, treatment procedures, medications, diets and providers instructionsProviding patient with patient education and materialsCleaning and sterilizing medical instrumentsAdministering topical, oral, intramuscular medications and immunizations as directed by providersKeeping examination rooms clean, sanitized and stockedAnswering phone calls, identifying self and clinic/practiceReceiving and documenting telephone messages and gives to the appropriate personHandling requests for prescription refills, form completion, shot records etc.Sorting mailHandling correspondencePerforming computer EHR & I-CARE entryChecking and recording refrigerator & freezer temperatures twice dailyWeekly inventory of medical, office supplies and equipmentTracking and recording patient labs, diagnostic tests and referralsProviding optimal quality, customer service and providing feedback to management regarding the level of customer satisfactionFollowing all OSHA regulationsAdhering to all policies and procedures set by managementAvailability to travel to all CCHC healthcare locationsOther duties as assignedMinimal qualifications/experience/skills:High school diploma or equivalent (GED) from an accredited school/programGraduated from an accredited Medical Assistant Program; certified or registered medical assistant preferredCurrent Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Basic Life Support (BLS)Must be professional, have a friendly demeanor, and be able to carry out assigned tasksMust have multi-tasking abilitiesMust possess people skills; ability to handle different personalities and personal situations in the care of patientsEmployee benefits offered to fulltime staff:Blue Cross Blue Shield medical insuranceBlue Cross Blue Shield dental and vision insuranceSupplemental benefitsLife insurance (provided by the company)
