Employment Type: Part-time | 20-25 hours per week

Schedule: 3–4 days/week, generally 11:00 AM–6:00 PM. Mondays and Tuesdays preferred; other days flexible. Occasional additional flexibility appreciated

Compensation: $30-$35 per hour

Requirements:

• Comfortable working in a home with cats
• Bilingual in Mandarin is a plus

About Our Family

We are a busy, warm, and close-knit family of five living in Playa Vista, with three young kids who keep life wonderfully full and fast-paced. Our household runs on a tag-team approach — both parents are active and involved, though our schedules pull us in different directions throughout the day and week. One parent commutes to a nearby city each morning, while the other works an intensive afternoon and evening schedule with regular travel for work. That overlap in the afternoon hours is where things can get stretched thin, and where the right support makes all the difference.

We love good food, we travel as a family often, and we genuinely enjoy our home — we just need help keeping up with it. Our household has a warm, lived-in energy. There are always activities on the calendar, seasonal things to tackle, and a steady rhythm of errands, meals, and logistics to manage. We have two cats and a rotating cast of kids' sports gear, events, and household supplies that all need a thoughtful hand.

Through having support in our home, we've learned how valuable it is to have someone who can truly become a trusted and integral part of the household. We're looking for someone who is naturally proactive, notices what needs attention, and feels comfortable taking ownership without needing a lot of day-to-day direction. Open communication is important to us, and we want this person to feel comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas, and helping us find better or easier ways to keep things running smoothly.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is warm, sharp, energetic, and naturally proactive — someone who notices what needs attention, thinks a few steps ahead, and feels comfortable taking ownership once they understand how the household runs. You're detail-oriented, pick up systems quickly, and retain what you've learned so you can apply it consistently without needing a lot of day-to-day direction.

You're also a thoughtful communicator who, especially in the beginning, isn't afraid to ask questions or check in as you get to know the family's preferences and how the household runs. You keep the family informed, flag things that may need attention, and communicate openly along the way.

You bring warmth and positive energy into the home and genuinely enjoy being around children. While this is not a primary childcare role — the family has a long-term nanny/godmother figure who provides much of their regular childcare support — the kids are an active part of the household, so being friendly, engaging, and comfortable occasionally helping with transportation or supervision is important.

You're flexible and willing to jump in wherever support is most useful, whether that means reorganizing a space, helping with meal prep, tackling a hands-on household project, shifting priorities when plans change, or stepping slightly outside a defined task list when the day calls for it. You're not afraid to roll up your sleeves and approach both the small details and bigger projects with the same level of care.

Key Responsibilities

Household Organization & Maintenance

• Create and maintain household organization systems throughout the home
• Daily resets and light tidying — dishes, surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic areas
• Prepare home for monthly cleaner visits
• Seasonal swaps for children's clothing, décor, and bedding
• Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs
• Event, holiday, and guest prep as needed
• Packing and unpacking support for family travel (children's items)
• Indoor plant care (minimal; home uses self-watering systems)

Laundry & Linens

• Full laundry support: washing, folding, and organizing
• Spray treatment and special garment handling
• Steaming; minimal ironing
• Linen rotation between monthly cleaner visits
• Maintain tidy and well-stocked laundry areas

Inventory & Errands

• Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies via deliveries and shared shopping carts
• Build and manage a running list of household staples and preferred stores
• Manage household orders and subscriptions, with attention to overstocking
• Handle returns
• Gift shopping for kids' birthday parties and other occasions
• Mail and package handling, including breaking down boxes
• Grocery shopping at local stores

Meal Support

• Batch cooking 1-2 times per week; ingredient prep (dicing, prepping) on other days
• Prepare healthy meals and snacks for the family
• Prep school lunches, including using dinner leftovers creatively
• Follow and maintain awareness of dietary needs, including one child's nut and seafood allergies (macadamia nuts, walnuts, shrimp, mango skin)
• Kitchen clean-up and ongoing maintenance

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

• Occasional deep cleans: fridge, going through expired items
• Garage organization assistance (occasional)
• Clean and maintain humidifiers and air purifiers (for allergy management)
• Organizational projects for toys, sports gear, and kids' belongings

Vehicle Upkeep

• Occasional cleaning and tidying of the family vehicle
• Schedule routine maintenance as needed (infrequent)

Family Support

• Backup support for activity pick-ups and drop-offs as schedules develop
• Light supervision and backup childcare support a few times per year when regular childcare is unavailable
• Kid-related errands

Administrative & Personal Assistant Support

• Calendar management: adding kids' activities, appointments, and family logistics
• Travel planning and logistics support (flight research, booking assistance)
• Receipt and budget tracking for household purchases
• Event and appointment coordination, including birthday parties

Vendor & Property Oversight

• Oversee and coordinate with house cleaners, contractors, and landscapers
• Research and coordinate repairs and quotes as needed
• Seasonal property maintenance (minimal)
• Manage outdoor spaces
