Vice President, Environmental Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S)

THE OPPORTUNITY We are seeking a Vice President of Environmental Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) to build, lead, and enforce an uncompromising zero-harm culture, regulatory compliance framework, and comprehensive physical security posture across our global data center portfolio. Reporting directly to the President of Data Center Operations, you will establish unified EHS operational standards, high-voltage electrical safety protocols, and strict environmental compliance while governing the physical defense, access controls, and Security Operations Center (SOC) infrastructure for all facilities. You will turn regulatory mandates and security operations into an agile operational shield, ensuring rapid campus growth never compromises worker safety, life safety integrity, site defense, or environmental stewardship. WHAT YOU WILL OWN Electrical Safety & LOTO Governance: Standardize and enforce high-voltage arc flash boundary protection (NFPA 70E), central Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) isolation governance, and safe working procedures across all high/medium voltage substations and grey space MEP systems. Physical Security & Guard Force Operations: Own site physical defense, Physical Access Control Systems (PACS), Video Management Systems (VMS), visitor badging, loading dock chain-of-custody, and 24/7 third-party contracted guard force operations. SOC Operations & Audit Compliance: Oversee Security Operations Center (SOC) monitoring routines and dispatch protocols. Ensure site physical security architectures pass strict SOC 2, ISO 27001, and enterprise client audit requirements. Environmental & AHJ Compliance: Oversee site air permitting, HAZOP reviews, Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans, and maintain an active AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) compliance registry across all sites. Operational Risk & Incident Management: Own the enterprise Incident Management framework. Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA / 5-Why) reviews for near-misses, security breaches, or site events, and drive continuous EHS&S risk mitigation. EHS Operations & Vendor Safety: Govern nested contractor safety programs, execute regular site safety/security audits, and maintain comprehensive EHS metrics across internal FTEs and third-party labor pools. Sustainability & Crisis Response: Drive environmental sustainability controls, hazardous chemical/fuel management, and author emergency response protocols for severe weather, fire suppression releases, hazardous material spills, and physical threat escalations. WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE First 90 days: Conduct fleet-wide EHS&S audit across all facilities; establish unified NFPA 70E/LOTO governance standards and guard force SLAs. First 6 months: Achieve zero Lost Time Injuries (LTI); pass all AHJ environmental compliance reviews and achieve full SOC 2 / ISO 27001 physical security compliance. First 12 months: Implement predictive EHS reporting tools and build a best-in-class, enterprise-wide zero-harm operating culture across all active data center campuses. WHAT YOU BRING 15+ years of progressive leadership in EHS and physical security management within mission-critical, high-voltage industrial, energy, or hyperscale data center environments. Deep mastery of NFPA 70E, OSHA guidelines, EPA air permitting, HAZOP methodology, regional AHJ regulatory frameworks, and enterprise physical security standards (PACS/VMS, SOC 2, ISO 27001). Proven track record of governing large-scale contractor workforces, contracted guard forces, and integrated safety/security operations in live-power facilities. EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS B.S. in Occupational Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related technical field. Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Protection Professional (CPP) preferred. HOW WE WORK BUILD Create durable systems, not temporary fixes.
