FP&A Analyst

Compensation: $80,000 to $95,000 base salary The Opportunity A growing, multi-site specialty healthcare organization is seeking an FP&A Analyst to strengthen financial reporting, forecasting, business analysis, and operational decision support. This role offers the opportunity to work across Finance, Accounting, Operations, Revenue Cycle, and clinical leadership. The FP&A Analyst will help the organization understand financial performance, identify the business drivers behind results, and improve visibility across locations, providers, departments, and service lines. The successful candidate will combine strong financial fundamentals with data fluency, healthcare knowledge , Power BI capability, and practical experience using Claude in the workplace . This individual should be comfortable working with detailed information while also translating the findings into clear, useful direction for business leaders. Key Responsibilities Financial Planning and Forecasting Support the annual budgeting process, periodic forecasts, and recurring financial planning activities. Maintain financial models incorporating revenue, patient volume, provider capacity, labor, operating expenses, reimbursement, and growth assumptions. Work with business leaders to develop realistic forecasts and identify potential financial risks or opportunities. Perform scenario and sensitivity analyses to evaluate staffing plans, operational changes, investments, and growth initiatives. Help improve forecast accuracy by evaluating historical trends and actual business performance. Financial and Operational Reporting Prepare monthly reporting packages comparing actual results with budget, forecast, and prior-period performance. Analyze revenue, expenses, labor, margins, cash flow, and other financial and operational measures. Investigate significant variances and identify the factors contributing to performance. Develop clear written explanations of financial results for executive and operational audiences. Assist with leadership, lender, board, and investor reporting as requested. Maintain accurate supporting schedules, assumptions, and documentation for recurring reports. Healthcare Performance Analysis Analyze patient volumes, provider productivity, scheduling capacity, reimbursement, payor mix, labor, and revenue cycle performance. Evaluate the relationships among clinical activity, staffing, collections, operating expenses, and profitability. Support reporting by location, provider, department, market, and service line. Partner with operational and clinical leaders to understand performance trends and evaluate improvement opportunities. Assist with financial analysis related to new providers, new locations, service expansion, capital investments, and other growth initiatives. Support financial due diligence, integration analysis, and post-transaction reporting when needed. Power BI and Data Visualization Build and maintain Power BI dashboards that give leaders timely visibility into financial and operational performance. Convert complex financial information into clear visualizations, scorecards, and decision-support tools. Combine information from financial, operational, payroll, practice-management, and other internal systems. Review source data for completeness and accuracy before incorporating it into reporting. Improve dashboard usability by working directly with the leaders who rely on the information. Help establish consistent metric definitions and reporting standards across the organization. Claude & Process Improvement Use Claude in a professional setting to assist with financial research, analysis structure, report development, variance commentary, model documentation, and workflow improvement. Develop effective prompts and repeatable processes that improve the quality and efficiency of appropriate finance activities. Review and validate all Claude-assisted work against source data, approved assumptions, and established financial controls. Maintain human oversight of financial conclusions and business recommendations. Protect confidential company, employee, patient, and financial information when using AI-assisted tools. Identify opportunities to reduce manual reporting, standardize recurring work, and improve the reliability of financial information. Cross-Functional Partnership Develop productive working relationships across Finance, Accounting, Operations, Revenue Cycle, Human Resources, and clinical leadership. Translate financial information into language that non-finance stakeholders can understand and use. Respond to ad hoc analytical requests while balancing recurring deadlines and business priorities. Ask thoughtful questions, investigate inconsistencies, and follow issues through to resolution. Contribute to a Finance culture centered on accuracy, responsiveness, accountability, and continuous improvement. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Finance, Accounting, Analytics, or a closely related quantitative discipline. Two or more years of experience in FP&A, financial analysis, healthcare finance, business analytics, decision support, or a comparable analytical role. Professional experience within healthcare services, physician practices, ambulatory care, hospital operations, or another provider-based healthcare environment. Understanding of healthcare financial and operating drivers, including patient volume, provider productivity, reimbursement, labor, revenue cycle performance, and profitability. Working knowledge of Claude and experience using it appropriately within a professional workflow. Experience supporting budgets, forecasts, financial reporting, variance analysis, or financial modeling. Proficiency with Power BI, including dashboard creation, data visualization, and report maintenance. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, lookup functions, data validation, and financial-model development. Strong quantitative reasoning, attention to detail, organization, and analytical judgment. Ability to explain financial findings clearly to both finance and non-finance audiences. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting a multi-site healthcare organization, physician practice management platform, or private equity-backed business. Familiarity with provider compensation, medical-practice economics, payor mix, clinic utilization, or healthcare revenue cycle metrics. Experience creating reporting by location, provider, market, department, or service line. Exposure to acquisitions, practice integration, growth modeling, or investment analysis. Experience working with enterprise resource planning, accounting, payroll, electronic health record, or practice-management systems. This person should be able to identify an inconsistency, determine what is causing it, and explain why it matters. Compensation and Benefits The anticipated base salary range is $80,000 to $95,000 , based on experience, qualifications, and alignment with the position’s requirements.
