Candidates will be hired at the level that best aligns with their qualifications, experience, certifications, and demonstrated competencies.Responsibilities for All Medical AssistantsObtain and document patient vital signs, health histories, and visit informationPrepare patients for examinations, treatments, and clinical proceduresAssist medical providers and behavioral health clinicians during patient visitsCollect, label, process, and prepare laboratory specimens in accordance with established proceduresPrepare, clean, stock, and maintain exam rooms, equipment, and clinical suppliesSupport patient flow, appointment scheduling, reminders, referrals, and follow-up activitiesMaintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic health record (EHR)Support communication with patients, pharmacies, laboratories, providers, and interdisciplinary team membersFollow infection control, safety, quality, and documentation standardsContribute to a patient-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive care environmentAdditional Responsibilities for Medical Assistant IISupport care coordination activities, including medication reconciliation, refill workflows, care gap identification, referrals, follow-up, and related communicationSupport medication administration, immunizations, injections, specialty services, and designated clinical programs within scope of practiceMaintain laboratory, phlebotomy, quality assurance, maintenance, and temperature logs in accordance with established requirementsAssist with onboarding, day-to-day training, and cross-training activities for Medical Assistant I staffParticipate in quality improvement activities, workflow enhancements, and cross-functional clinic operationsDesirable Candidate ProfileAll CandidatesHigh School Diploma or GED requiredCurrent Medical Assistant certification required, including completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent trainingBasic Life Support (BLS) certification required, or ability to obtain BLS within the required time frame upon hireExperience supporting medically underserved populations preferredAdditional Profile for Medical Assistant IIMinimum of two (2) years of Medical Assistant experience in an ambulatory, outpatient, primary care, specialty care, or integrated healthcare setting required.Experience supporting care coordination activities, including medication reconciliation, refill workflows, care gap identification, referrals, follow-up, and related communication.Experience supporting specialty services, medication administration, immunizations, injections, laboratory operations, and required logsExperience with laboratory services, specimen collection and processing, and/or phlebotomy is strongly preferred.Key CompetenciesKnowledge of medical assisting practices, clinical workflows, patient care procedures, infection prevention, safety standards, HIPAA requirements, and clinical documentation practicesAbility to build positive relationships with patients from diverse backgrounds and life experiencesStrong communication, organization, attention to detail, prioritization, and teamwork skills in a fast-paced clinical environmentProficiency using electronic health record systems and healthcare technologyCommitment to trauma-informed, patient-centered, and culturally responsive careAbility to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary care teamCommitment to serving individuals experiencing homelessness and housing instability with compassion, respect, empathy, empowerment, and dignityWork ScheduleThis is a full-time position based within the Village Health Center, an integrated Federally Qualified Health Center serving individuals experiencing homelessness and other medically underserved populations. Work is performed in a fast-paced clinical environment and involves collaboration with medical providers, behavioral health clinicians, laboratory staff, care teams, and support staff to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care. While the typical schedule is Monday through Friday, occasional schedule adjustments may be required to support clinic operations, patient care needs, specialty services, and organizational priorities.Compensation & BenefitsThe anticipated starting pay ranges for the roles are below:Medical Assistant I: $21.00 to $23.30 per hourMedical Assistant II: $23.00 to $25.30 per hourWages are paid out bi-weekly.
