Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU/IMCU) position at a tertiary care hospital in Rochester, NY, requiring an active NY RN license and Epic experience.

Details

• Work in a 26-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), a critical care step-down unit within a 528-bed tertiary care hospital
• Patients are adult, acute care individuals requiring more specialized care than a general med-surg floor
• Patient population includes admissions from the ED, PACU, ICU, and med-surg floors
• Patients may require airway management, acute BiPAP support, arterial lines, central lines, and titrated IV medication infusions
• All patients have continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring
• Patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7 (MedSurg-level acuity)
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active NY RN license currently in hand — no exceptions
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of PCU/IMCU or med-surg RN experience
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with IV therapy, peripheral line care and management, and phlebotomy
• Experience with respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, and non-invasive airway management
• Familiarity with isolation precautions and rapid response/code team protocols
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates

Additional Information

• Provide evidence-based care to acute adult patients in a step-down setting using a multidisciplinary team approach
• Care responsibilities vary widely based on individual patient needs; team is expected to adapt quickly
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility
• Navy and white scrubs (any combination) required
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• All time-off requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
