Job Title: RN - PCU Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 18 months PCU RN experience License: Required Licensure & Certifications Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with traches, cardiac drip experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, blood products, wound care/dressing changes, management of central lines Description: RN - PCU position available. Facility has 241 licensed beds. It is a Level 3 Trauma Center and a Certified Chest Pain Center. The unit has 32 beds. Patient types include any patient not requiring mechanical ventilation. Common diagnoses involve CHF, Dysrhythmia, Chest Pain workup, Stroke, Abdominal illnesses and infections, Respiratory illness, Diabetes, AKI/CKD, ETOH withdrawal, IV drug addiction, etc. Patient ratios are as follows: RN 1:4 most common, could possibly go to 1:5 depending on acuity. LPN (if applicable) ratio is 4:1. CNA ratio on days is 1:12; on nights is 1:16. Support within the department includes a Charge Nurse and a CNA for ADLs. Additional support includes phlebotomy services other than nurse draw, and 24/7 availability of RT, Clientist, and Intensivist. Telemetry monitoring is available at the bedside and in nurses' stations. Technology used includes EMR: EPIC, IV Pump: Alaris, Med dispensing: Omnicell, and Monitors: Phillips. Floating may occur within the scope of practice and region needs. Floating mid-shift will result in payment for time traveling between facilities, remaining on the clock. Weekend rotation will be every other weekend. There is a possibility of low census call, with a requirement to be available for callback. Travelers will be expected to work 75% of holidays. RTO can be approved for up to 6 days off, excluding holidays, with a requirement to add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours. The schedule cycle is every 6 weeks. Unit culture is family-oriented. Scrub color is navy.
