Position Overview The Social Media Coordinator works within the College of Engineering Marketing Team to curate its digital presence. They hold the keys to the social kingdom, providing guidance while monitoring departmental channels, and adapting strategies and channels to fit the current social landscape. A successful candidate for this position will possess the following: You understand per channel sizing needs and can execute accordingly. You live and breathe social and understand the importance of growth and how to get there. You work quickly but efficiently. Ability to work independently and as part of a small but mighty team. Detail oriented. An amazing proofreader who continuously checks their work. Flexible in adapting to changing timelines and deliverables. Proactive, positive team player, able to help guide projects from ingestion to delivery. Intermediate Photoshop experience a plus if you have a design background. Proven ability to engage, connect and build an audience. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in related field and two years of experience in writing and/or editing publications; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Ability to conceptualize, write and edit, accurate and concise content for university audiences. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, conduct multiple tasks and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to visually inspect print and online copy when self editing or editing the copy of others. Works effectively within a team and effectively works closely with other staff, faculty, and students toward a common goal. Knowledge of how to contact sources and ability to conduct interviews and take accurate notes. Knowledge of spelling, grammar, punctuation and Associated Press and Chicago Manual styles. Knowledge of writing guidelines for various media and ability to create unique copy for each format (print, online, broadcast). Understanding of institutional strategy (or ability to quickly assimilate) and ability to integrate the strategy into modes of communication. Job Duties Help identify and curate social media content that aligns with UNT College of Engineering's social media goals. Contribute to cross-functional initiatives regarding Promotions, Partnerships, and Live Events to assess and implement varying social needs. Meticulously proofread and copy-check any content distributed on UNT College of Engineering's social channels. Work across college departments to ensure our social channels are covering/amplifying our first class stories. Researching engineering school web content throughout the country. Ability to create engaging social media copy with minimal guidance and multitask in real-time. Assists with photography, as needed. Maintains relationships with departmental subject matter experts. Assists with events where Marketing and Communications has a significant role/presence. Physical Requirements Communicating with others to exchange information. Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds. Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another. Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Environmental Hazards Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind. Exposure to moving mechanical parts or vibration.
