Thunder Bay Historical Museum Society, The
Overview The Juno Beach Pier offers guests 990 feet of great saltwater fishing and opportunities to enjoy the view from sunrise to sunset. The full-service pier house features a snack bar, a variety of fishing tackle, rental poles and bait. Juno Beach Pier Volunteers assist with the admission fees, snack shop and fishing bait purchases as well as cleaning and maintenance of the pier. Responsibilities Assist visitors with bait shop purchases, rod rentals and pier passes Cleaning as needed Assist with trash and recycling disposal Assist with the rescuing of sea turtles and shore birds following Responsible Pier Initiative protocols Assist visitors with inquiries and provide accurate information Ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients and guests Communicate effectively with supervisors and guests Foster a positive and engaging atmosphere, promoting the mission and goals of Loggerhead Marinelife Center Participate in volunteer meetings, training sessions, and debriefings to enhance teamwork and volunteer experience Qualifications / Requirements Must be 16 years old Assist with bait shop purchases, rod rentals and pier pass Cleaning as needed Assist with trash and recycling disposal Assist with safety and customer service duties as described above Uniform Upcycling In an effort to promote sustainability, a uniform upcycling program is offered where new volunteers may select to receive one gently used uniform top instead of a brand-new one. Sizes are limited. If the selected size is not in stock, volunteers will receive a new shirt by default. Uniform Options Long-Sleeved Field Shirt Short-Sleeved Field Shirt Volunteer Shifts Morning Shift Times: 9am–11am. Afternoon Shift Times: 11am–1pm, 1pm–3pm, 3pm–5pm. Volunteer shifts are scheduled on the same days and times weekly, e.g. Tuesday mornings, Thursday afternoons, etc. Availability & Questions Optional demographic information may be collected to help understand volunteer make-up.
