Facility Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Pflugerville Shift/Status Full Time, 36 hrs/wk Schedule Night Shift (7pm – 7am) Requirements Applicants must have IMC or ICU experience This is a mixed acuity unit. Applicants must be willing and flexible to take assignments in all areas, such as Med/Surg, Tele, Intermediate care, etc, as needed by the department. Main Nursing Unit 25-bed Main Nursing Unit which is a blended unit with three levels of acuity and operates from a multidisciplinary approach in providing the highest standards of nursing care to patients and families. Patient Population Medical Surgical, Orthopedics, Intermediate Care, Critical Care Number of Beds 25, with the anticipation of doubling in size with the expansion Patient Ratios Med Surg/Tele – 1:4/5, Progressive Care/Intermediate Care – 1:3, Intensive Care – 1:2 About The Facility Baylor Scott & White - Pflugerville is a full-service hospital, providing a wide network of medical expertise and resources. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Pflugerville features a 25-bed Main Nursing Unit which is blended across three levels of acuity and operates from a multidisciplinary approach to provide the highest standards of nursing care to patients and families. The facility also offers 24/7 emergency services (an 8-bed Emergency Department) and surgical services. Baylor Scott & White – Pflugerville is currently under construction for an expansion and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, including a new heart catheterization lab, expanded imaging options, added emergency and trauma services, and improved operating room capabilities. Job Summary As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. Secure patient travel and ensure the patient’s needs are met in healthcare settings. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies. Essential Functions Of The Role Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs. Create, implement, and evaluate care plans. Adjust plans to reach desired outcomes. Build relationships, manage discomfort, and maintain professionalism in therapeutic interactions with patients and families. Create care plans reflecting values to aid in resolving issues. Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members. Empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices. Assess and document learning needs regularly. Work with colleagues and the community to create a care plan. Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly. Use various problem‑solving strategies with patients, families, and staff. Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery. Key Success Factors A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, and procedures. Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area; understanding hospital procedures and rules. Proficiency in medical terminology, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common medications, and their side effects. Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights. Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing. Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties. Excellent problem‑solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking. Basic computer skills, encompassing Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
