Job Title: House Manager & Family Assistant (with Meal Prep Support)

Location: Houston, TX 77055

Employment Type: Part-time, approximately 20-25 hours per week

Schedule: Primarily on-site, 3 days per week from 1:00 PM–7:00 PM, with additional flexibility for:

• Up to 5 additional hours per week of remote or off-site time for errands, vendor coordination, and administrative tasks
• 1–2 weekend organizational project sessions per month

Compensation: $27–$33 per hour, depending on experience

Requirements

• Maintain a smoke-free environment.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Reliable transportation, clean driving record, and valid driver's license required (mileage reimbursement provided for household-related driving completed during scheduled work hours).
• Candidates are required to be up to date on recommended vaccinations in line with American Academy of Pediatrics and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines (including standard childhood and adult immunizations), subject to applicable legal accommodations.
• CPR and First Aid certified (or willing to obtain upon hire).

About Our Family

We are a busy family of five made up of two entrepreneurial parents, three energetic kids, and a grandmother who lives with us and is very much the heart of the home. Our days move quickly, and while we both work hard, our family is always our priority. Evenings are full of activities, dinner, and all of the beautiful chaos that comes with raising three active children.

We're easygoing, down-to-earth people who know we need someone who loves creating order. We already have great support in place. A mother's helper takes care of the mornings, and Grandma helps with school pickups and gets dinner started, so we're not looking for someone to replace either of them. We're looking for the person who notices what falls through the cracks, takes ownership of it, and helps our entire household run more smoothly. Our home is lived in, well loved, and full of personality, and we're excited to welcome someone who will become a trusted part of our family's everyday life.

Whether you're organizing a closet, coordinating vendors, scheduling appointments, running errands, or tackling a larger organizational project, you take ownership from start to finish and pride yourself on seeing things through. You're comfortable around children, patient with the beautiful unpredictability that comes with neurodivergent kids, and able to jump in wherever you're needed with a calm, positive attitude.

You're resourceful, organized, tech-savvy, and genuinely enjoy solving problems. If something needs to be researched, repaired, donated, sold, scheduled, or reorganized, you're already thinking through the best way to get it done. You understand how a busy household functions behind the scenes and enjoy creating systems that are both functional and easy to maintain. You're confident communicating with vendors, comfortable taking initiative, and capable of managing projects independently. Most importantly, you're warm, dependable, emotionally intelligent, and know how to work respectfully within a close-knit, multi-generational home. At the end of the day, the heart of this role is helping a loving family create the kind of home they've always envisioned—one they feel proud of, one they can happily open to friends and family, and one that brings them a little more peace at the end of each busy day.

Key Responsibilities

Household Organization & Maintenance

• Create and maintain household organization systems that are functional, sustainable, and adaptable as the family's needs change across life stages
• Tackle long-standing clutter and pile projects (e.g., declutter and organize toys, gear, and outgrown items)
• Coordinate seasonal clothing, décor, and bedding swaps
• Manage donation drop-offs and coordinate Facebook Marketplace listings, sales, and handoffs for items being sold
• Monitor and address minor home maintenance needs

Vendor & Property Oversight

• Proactively identify household maintenance issues and take full ownership of resolution (e.g., research vendors, collect quotes, schedule work, serve as the on-site point of contact, and confirm completion)
• Coordinate and oversee cleaners, contractors, and any other service providers
• Research and vet a deep cleaning service for the home
• Support seasonal property maintenance as needed

Administrative & Personal Assistant Support

• Manage the family calendar, including kids' activities, appointments, and household schedules
• Research activities, classes, and programs for the kids (e.g., tumbling) and present options that work with the family's schedule
• Handle mail and packages (e.g., bring in, sort, organize, and establish a sustainable system so nothing goes unchecked)
• Break down boxes and handle recycling runs
• Research, plan, and book travel as needed
• Coordinate packing and unpacking for travel

Meal Support

• Collaborate on weekly meal planning to reduce the mental load of deciding what is for dinner
• Batch prep proteins, vegetables, snacks, and ingredients so cooking is easier for the whole household
• Prep grab-and-go lunches for parents to take to work
• Source groceries in-store or online, based on family preference
• Work in coordination with the grandmother's cooking routine
• Be mindful of dietary needs: one family member has a cow's milk allergy (A2 milk is fine)
• Maintain kitchen organization and cleanliness on days present in the home

Family Support

• Provide child supervision during meal prep times (e.g., walks, games, and activities that keep kids engaged and off screens while dinner is being made)
• Occasional school pickups or transportation to after school activities as needed and as the schedule evolves
• Provide light childcare backup as needed

Inventory & Errands

• Monitor and restock household supplies (e.g., pantry, refrigerator, paper goods, and cleaning products)
• Manage running supply lists and coordinate restocking proactively so the family never runs out of essentials
• Coordinate returns, online orders, and household subscriptions
• Handle gift shopping and miscellaneous errands as needed

Vehicle Upkeep

• Fill up family vehicles with gas as needed
• Coordinate car cleaning and interior organization
• Track registration and insurance for family vehicles and proactively manage renewals and appointments
