Under general direction, to perform police duties, such as; foot patrol, motorized patrol within the City of Casselberry; to prevent crime; to detect and arrest the perpetrators of crimes; to regulate traffic; to provide public assistance; to perform all additional functions for the rank as prescribed by relevant laws, city ordinances, departmental rules and regulations, orders and directives of the Police Department; to perform special duties and/or assignments as directed by the Chief of Police in his discretion; to enforce the laws of the State of Florida and the ordinances of the City of Casselberry. - Patrols assigned zone in a police vehicle. - Responds to emergency and non-emergency calls for police assistance as directed within the City. - Arrests violators of state laws and city ordinances, as required. - Directs and regulates traffic within the City. - Investigates traffic accidents. - Maintains the public peace. - Provides general assistance to the public such as: to injured and ill persons, and in public and domestic disturbances. - Inspects and protects business and residential properties in the nighttime. - Completes and submits detailed written reports on approved forms on all activities. - Appears in courts of law to present testimony and evidence in arrest cases. - Follows safe working practices and has a working knowledge of safety practices and procedures. - In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster, which may threaten the area, the employee will be expected to work.

Be at least 19 years of age for law enforcement and correctional probation. Be at least 18 years of age for corrections. Be a citizen of the United States. Have earned a high school graduate or equivalent (GED). Have not been convicted of any felony or of any misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement. Any person who, after July 1, 1981, pleads guilty or nolo contendere to, or is found guilty of any felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement, shall not be eligible for employment or appointment as an officer, not-withstanding suspension of sentence or withholding of adjudication. Have never received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United State. Have good moral character. Have successfully completed the Florida Basic Recruit Training Program for the respective discipline or completed the Equivalency of Training process. Have achieved a passing score on the State Officer Certification Examination . Have been fingerprinted by the employing agency with prints processed by the FDLE and the FBI. Have successfully passed a background investigation, to include drug testing. Have passed a physical examination by a licensed physician, physician assistant, or certified advanced registered nurse practitioner. Qualify in a physical fitness test. Qualify in an oral review board. Qualify in a CVSA interview/examination. Qualify in a physical examination and medical testing administered by the City of Casselberry approved agent prior to employment. Qualify in a drug screen test. Qualify in a psychological fitness test administered by the City of Casselberry approved agent prior to employment.

Salary Base Pay......................$64,890* Plus additional salary incentives up to $130/month and 2% night shift differential, if applicable. Supplementary 2% for City residents. For experienced officers, starting pay is up to $78,750 a year & the City of Casselberry offers up to a $20,000 starting bonus New officers in the State of Florida are eligible for a $5000 starting bonus New Officers are eligible for reimbursement of police academy expenses up to $3,600.00 ** If you live a hundred or more miles from the City of Casselberry, we will pay you $2,500 to help you relocate!** Members are provided a take-home vehicle upon completion of the Field Training Program. The City covers a significant portion of the employee's health insurance premium. Available options include a Copay plan or a HRA plan. Dependent coverage is also available for an additional cost. Employees may qualify for health insurance discounts based on wellness participation, non-tobacco use, and biometric screenings. Optional dental insurance (DHMO or PPO) and vision insurance for employees and their families. Short term disability "STD", Voluntary and AD&D Life Insurance, Legal Shield, Accident Insurance and Critical Illness with Cancer Insurance. City paid long term disability after one year of employment. City paid 1x base salary (maximum of $200,000) The employee contributes 3% of salary and is vested after 8 years. Retirement plan accrues at 3% per year. The City will reimburse college tuition and expenses up to $2,400 per year after one year of employment. All Officers are provided take-home vehicle, uniforms, weapons, vest, and other necessary equipment during their entire career. Employees accrue at 6.66 hours of annual leave per month during the first year of employment. After the first year, the accrual rate increases to 8 hours per month. Employees accrue at 6 hours of sick leave per month. Employees are entitled to 10 paid holidays each year, as well as paid bereavement and military leave. Patrol Division, Investigations Section, Traffic Section, DUI Officer, Training Instructor, S.W.A.T., City-County Investigative Bureau, School Resource Officer, Community Response Squad, and Inter Agency Task Forces.
