Registered Nurse (RN) FT Days - Oncology (Acute Care)

Job Summary The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high‑quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment overseen by Nurse Managers and other leaders and are supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model, guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence‑based practice, and research. Work Shift Day (United States of America) Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Exemplary Practice and Outcomes Perform the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, identifying outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence‑based practice, critical thinking, and individualized care. Provide relationship‑based, patient‑centered care that adapts to population‑specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease). Partner with patients and significant others using appropriate methods for setting goals and plans of care (bedside shift report, interdisciplinary rounds, patient teaching). Keep patients and families updated and focused on patient goals. Practice using current clinical practice standards and collaborate within an inclusive interdisciplinary communication framework. Teamwork and Collaboration Coordinate and document safe, quality patient care that promotes the professional care delivery model. Demonstrate teamsmanship and fiscal responsibility while supporting recruitment and retention of healthcare team members. Engage in performance improvement, research utilization, and shared governance at all system levels. Professional Development and Initiative Complete initial and ongoing professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population‑specific education. Serve as a preceptor or mentor to other professional nurses, staff, or students to maintain a qualified future workforce. Evidence Based Practice and Research Promote evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement; participate in value analysis and decision‑making processes. Uphold all system policies and procedures and professional associations’ standards, ensuring compliance with TJC Patient Safety Goals and Wellstar safety absolutes. Participate in data collection, pose clinical questions, consult experts, and use appropriate evidence to address practice questions. Resources and Support Proactively plan for patient care across the care continuum during direct patient care. Participate in the development of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes (e.g., reduce readmission rates). Support the efficient use of human and material resources; perform duties as assigned while complying with Wellstar policies. Required Minimum Education Associate’s Nursing or Diploma (Nurse) Nursing, or Bachelor’s Nursing (Preferred). Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s) RN – Regular Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT – RN Multi‑state Compact. BLS – Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support – Instructor. Required Minimum Experience Less than 1 year of experience. Completion of an accredited/approved school of nursing with requisite clinical hours. Direct patient care experience (preferred).
